Today is EVEN Period Day – Periods 2.4.6.8

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

The LHS Lady Lionfish defeated Highlands Ranch yesterday, 100-86.  The LHS JV also won their meet, 107-65.  Winners for the Lady Fish were:
50 free - Caroline Montgomery
100 Fly - Megan Sanders
200 free relay - Claire Tronrud, Megan Sanders, Abbey Vankooten, Caroline Montgomery
Our last home meet of the season will be Tuesday, January 28, 4:00 p.m., at our pool.

The wrestling team competed against Highlands Ranch.  Highlights of the night were:
Jordan Todd winning by fall.
Jordan Weaver winning by fall.
Greg Kennedy winning by fall.
The varsity wrestlers return to action this Saturday @ the Rock Canyon duals

Sport Announcements:

Girls Soccer - Any girls wishing to play soccer for LHS in the spring must attend a short meeting at 2.20pm on Wednesday Jan 29 in room 133E.  You will receive information on tryouts and the upcoming season. If you cannot attend, please see coach Banfield to collect the papers.

Boys LAX – Any boys wishing to play lacrosse for LHS in the spring must attend a parent/player meeting on Thursday evening, Jan 30th in the Forum at 7pm.  Coaches will go over important information about tryout information, game schedules and what to expect for the upcoming season.  

Special Events:

Winter Dance Spirit Days start Monday and they are going to be fun!
Monday is DENVER BRONCO Day-wear all your Bronco attire and have fun!
Tuesday is Twins Day-find a friend and dress alike!
Wednesday is Glitz Day, so wear your sparkly best and pick up a ring from the StuCo kids!
Thursday is Pearls and Bow Tie Day-wear your own or pick up some pearls or a bow tie from a StuCo member!
AND Friday is class t-shirt day-just like at Homecoming we are going to pack th gym with everyone wearing their class colors for the Winter Pep Rally!!
Plus, if you are one of the BEST DRESSED all week, you could win a gift card from Chipolte!  Have fun and bring on the LHS Spirit!

Winter Dance is next Saturday, February 1st, so it is time to buy your tickets!!  They will be on sale starting Monday in the cafeteria during lunches.  $8 for a single and$15 for a couple.  The sophomores have done some great planning so get ready to dance the night away to the Roaring 20s!
 
Don't forget to pick up a dance guest form from the Student Services office if you are brining someone out of LHS to the Winter Dance, they are due on Thursday the 20th.

If you are interested in being a part of the newspaper or yearbook staff next year, your applications are due Tuesday, January 28.  Don't miss the deadline!  If you have questions, please see Miss Kron or Mrs. Fisher.

Academic Announcements: 

A Writing Center is now open in the library on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:20-3:30. Come in and work with a peer tutor on writing from all classes and at any stage in the writing process. You can make an appointment in the library, and walk-ins are also welcome. Please see the library staff if you have any additional questions.

Attention math methods students:  If you normally have Math Methods on Monday, you will attend Math Methods today instead.

An admissions representative from Johnson & Wales University in Denver will be at our school on Thursday to meet with students.  The meeting will take place in the Post Grad Center at 12:30.

Special Events:

The Winter dance is coming up on Saturday, February 1st from 8:00 to 11:00.  The theme is 'The Roaring 20s.'  Tickets are on sale this week - $8.00 for individual tickets, $15.00 for couples.   Next week, in preparation for the dance and pep assembly, show your spirit each day of the week by partaking in our spirit days.  Monday is classy, with bow tie and pearl day, Tuesday is twin day, Wednesday is glitz and glamour day, Thursday is Bronco day, and wear your class shirts on Friday for the assembly.

Club Announcements: 

FBLA members, please attend a very short meeting this Thursday, January 23 at 2:20 pm in room 124. Permission slips for districts will be handed out and important updates for our upcoming district conference will be shared.  See you then!

Key Club!  We will meet this Thursday at 2.20 in the forum.  We will have a brief recognition ceremony for all this year's members followed by a service activity helping to clean out the lost and found in the library. Also, remember if you have any gently used party dresses for girls aged 5-16 that you no longer need please bring them to Ms. Anthamatten in the foreign language office or bring them to Thursday's meeting.  They will be donated to Runyon Elementary School's father daughter dance dress boutique.

The LPS swim waiver test will be held at Heritage High School on Thurs., Jan. 23 at 2:30 pm in the HHS pool.  The test is open to all current LPS students in grades 9-12.  For complete information on how to register with Ms. Rossing at Heritage, as well as a criteria sheet on what you need to know for the test, please stop by the counseling office.   Registration is limited, and the deadline to register at HHS is Wed., Jan. 22.
