The JV soccer team had an impressive 4 to 1 victory over Ponderosa yesterday. Goals were scored by David, Donaciano, Dominik and Gerardo.

Academic Announcements:

The Library will be closing at 2:30pm today for the Homecoming Parade! 

Attention Juniors AND Seniors:  Admissions representatives from three very selective colleges will be in Post Grad today.  Colorado College will be here at 11:00 today, Macalester College will be here at noon and Boston College will be here at 12:30 today. If you're interested in finding out more about any of these schools, please stop by Post Grad to pick up a pass out of class for the meeting. These college rep meetings are a great way to meet the admissions people who will be reading your applications... Don't be lazy! Take advantage of this opportunity!

Juniors can sign up in the Counseling Office for the PSAT (practice SAT) Sept. 23 - Oct. 11. The test is Wed., Oct. 16, 7:30 - 11:30 am in the LHS South Gym. Registrations are limited to the first 200 students, and students must pay the $20, non-refundable fee when they sign up. 

Seniors:  Rosters will be posted outside of the counseling office and in the main lobby beginning Monday for your advisement sessions on Wednesday, September 25th.  Seniors last name A-L should plan to be in the Forum for Session I, 9:10-10:00, seniors with last names M-Z should report to their assigned classrooms.   Session II goes 10:40-11:30; and seniors with last name A-L will report to their assigned classrooms and M-Z to the Forum. 

Seniors who need to write an essay for their college applications won't want to miss the College Essay Workshop on Wednesday morning.  Mr. Stedron will present a format that can save you hours of your time in writing your college essay.  The workshop takes place in the Forum at 8 a.m. on Wednesday before Senior Advisement - and don't forget to use the Forum door when you come.

Homecoming Events:


Congrats to the Senior Boys Vollebyall team called WET BOYS, they won the Guys Volleyball Tournament. It was an ALL senior championship game, so way to represent seniors!

Homecoming tickets will NOT be on sale after school today, only during lunches.  Remember, you can buy them at the door. 

Senior Royalty candidates, don’t forget you need to be in the PARADE today. Please make your way to Bemis library by 2:45 and find a convertible car.  Have one guy and one girl in each car--there will be 3 of them.  AND a reminder to ALL parade participants, make sure you are at Bemis library by 2:45 ready to line up.  Those of you who do not have rides--catch the spirit bus out front.

Bowles Avenue in Littleton OR at Run Colorado, 8505 E. Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial from Friday, Sept 27, through 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 23.  Join your fellow students in either a 5K or 10K race through the beautiful streets of Littleton.  We have been challenged to win the High School Competition for a third year in a row so we need to have as many participants as possible join the "Littleton High School" team.  If our school has the largest percentage of participants, we win $1,000 again.  GO LIONS!!!

Congratulations to the Junior Girls Powder Puff team--their tie-die magic worked!  They played the seniors in the championship game and won 28-21!  Nice job girls; this was our BIGGEST turn-out EVER for Powder Puff!  NOW, it's time for the guys to strut their stuff--on the Volleyball court!  Come to the north gym right after school today and see the best show in town--Homecoming Guys Volleyball Tournament!

Sport Announcements:

Pre-season weight training is now going Monday through Thursday at 2:30 to 4 pm in the weight room.  Open gym times are 6 to 7:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  These gym times are open to all levels of boys basketball and are an excellent way to get in basketball shape for the upcoming season.

Varsity Boys Soccer added another win to their record yesterday, making them 2-0 in league play and 5-1 overall. Hamadi Abid scored the only goal of the game and the Lions held on to beat Castle View 1-0. Way to go Lions!  Their next opponent is Ponderosa High School on Thursday at 4:30 at Ponderosa.

Yesterday was a great day for the Juniors, because they won the Dodge Ball Tourney, beating the seniors in the final match.  Today, we see what class has the best Powder Puff football team!  Head down to the grass soccer fields at 2:30 to watch the girls show off their best football moves!

What do a bouncy castle, free desserts and fun circus game all have in common?  They are all part of the LHS HOMECOMING BONFIRE!!  And it is happening TONITE starting at 7pm in the athletic parking lot next to the tennis courts.  The band will be playing and the cheers cheering...so come on out and have some fun; it will end around 8:15, so make sure you have a ride home!

Come on down to the North Gym today right after school for the Homecoming Dodge Ball Tourney!  Come cheer on your class as they try to become the best Dodge Ball team in the school!!  Go LIONS!
 
Right after Dodge Ball, stay around LHS and watch the girls take on Legend in volleyball and the boys take on Douglas County in soccer!! Boys start at 4 and the girls at 4:30 with the sophomore team.  During halftime of the Soccer game you will have a chance to win some Homecoming Tickets!!  There will be fun Spirit Game during the soccer game--if you participate and win--the tickets are yours!!  Finally, after the soccer game, head back to the gym to watch the Varsity Volleyball game and get another chance to win some Homecoming tickets between games 2 and 3 of the volleyball match. There will be another Spirit Game and the winners will score Homecoming Tickets!  See you at the GYM!! GO LIONS!

Student Council has another way for you to win some Homecoming tickets!  We are doing a Circus Scavenger Hunt!  Listen for the clue, find the visual answer somewhere in the school, take a picture and be among the first 4 people to show it to Ms Prestel in room 209  and your name goes into a drawing for a PAIR of Homecoming tickets.  We are taking 4 winners EACH BLOCK today--do not skip your class or run in the halls, but find the visual answer and go to room 209.  Three winners will be drawn at the Pep Rally on Friday.  The following clue will help you find the circus item and its location:  "the circus would be nothing without my red and white.  Join me and my three rings, in no way out of site.  I'm not foreign or ancient in any way but one. If there was a fire, I'll be where you would run from."

Don't forget, our next spirit day is Wacky Wednesday!!  So, find a fun outfit to wear that is "totally wacked out!"  Plus, Student Council members will be handing out clown noses to make you even wackier!

Attention girl’s basketball players; this week’s open gym on Wednesday night has been cancelled so that you can enjoy the bonfire.  We will resume our normal schedule next week on Monday and Wednesday nights.

Pre-season weight training is now going Monday through Thursday at 2:30 to 4 pm in the weight room.  Open gym times are 6 to 7:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  These gym times are open to all levels of boys basketball and are an excellent way to get in basketball shape for the upcoming season.

For students not able to attend the Academic Awards Program on Monday night, please stop by the main office to pick up your award.

Attention Seniors!  If you have not submitted your senior photo for the yearbook, time is running out!  Please check the list in Ms. Fisher's room (room 111) to see if your picture is missing.  The photographer will be here on Thursday, Sept. 26 to photograph seniors still needing a photo.  Come see Ms. Fisher to sign up. Don't miss your chance to be pictured in the yearbook as a senior!

The ID machine has arrived in the Library just in time for Homecoming!  A current Student ID is required for all Homecoming activities this week. If you still need to get yours, head down to the library!  Remakes cost only $5.00.

Hello Littleton Parents-Come join your fellow LHS parents at Merle’s Restaurant on Friday, September 20 for homecoming parade viewing. You can watch from the rooftop deck or at street level… Merle’s will have areas reserved for us. Come have a snack and cheer on your favorite student! Merle’s will be giving 10% of all proceeds to LHS PTO After Prom, so it’s the perfect way to spend a fall afternoon! SAVE THE DATE:  The LPS Foundation is having their 18th annual Stride 2013 on Sunday, October 27 at the Littleton Museum.  Register online at www.runthestride.com  or register in person at the Boulder Running Company, 8116 W. Bowles Avenue in Littleton OR at Run Colorado, 8505 E. Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial from Friday, Sept 27, through 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 23.  Join your fellow students in either a 5K or 10K race through the beautiful streets of Littleton.  We have been challenged to win the High School Competition for a third year in a row so we need to have as many participants as possible join the "Littleton High School" team.  If our school has the largest percentage of participants, we win $1,000 again.  GO LIONS!!!

Heritage High School Swim Waiver is Tues., Sept. 24 at the HHS pool. The test is open to all LPS students grades 9-12, but students MUST sign up by Sept. 23. For further information, contact Ms. Whalen in the P.E. department, or the counseling office.

Club Announcements:

Attention all Student Council Officers and any students who signed up to be Ambassadors plus any students who want to be a part of Student Council, we have a General Council meeting  today at 2:20 in the Forum. We will be discussing Homecoming and having Class Meetings.  We hope to see you there!!

The World Club will meet this Tuesday between 2:20pm and 2:45pm in Room 206.

CLASS T-SHIRTS FRIDAY — to show their school spirit!! 

HOMECOMING TICKET SALES start today during A and B lunches in the cafeteria. The cost is $15 per ticket.  They will be on sale every day this week during lunches, and also after school on Wednesday and Thursday.  IF you do not buy your ticket ahead of time, that is ok - they are the same price at the door the night of the dance, Sept. 21st.  Bonus – Your Homecoming ticket scores you a free cookie and soda at the DECA store during the dance.


Class t-shirts are here and will be ready to be picked up TUESDAY during both lunches, between the lunches and after school in the cafeteria!!  If you have already paid for a shirt, your name will be on a list, if you are not sure if you have paid for one, check the list to find out.  If you have not bought one, they are $5, and you can pay us during the lunches-you do not need to go to the bookkeeper.  They will be available for pickup the rest of this week! 
 
Tuesday after school starts the Homecoming FUN!!  Come join us to watch each class square up against each other in the Homecoming Dodge Ball Tourney right after school in the north gym!  Come cheer on your class as they try to become the best Dodge Ball team in the school!!
 
Right after Dodge Ball, stay around LHS and watch the girls take on Legend in volleyball and the boys take on Douglas County in soccer!! Boys start at 4 and the girls at 4:30 with the sophomore team.  During halftime of the Soccer game you will have a chance to win some Homecoming Tickets!!  There will be fun Spirit Game during the soccer game--if you participate and win--the tickets are yours!!  Finally, after the soccer game, head back to the gym to watch the Varsity Volleyball game and get another chance to win some Homecoming tickets between games 2 and 3 of the volleyball match. There will be another Spirit Game and the winners will score Homecoming Tickets!  See you at the GYM!! GO LIONS!

Homecoming Dance Guest forms are available in Student Services. They are due Thursday, September 19th. The Homecoming dance will be held Saturday, September 21st.
 

Sport Announcements:

Girls Basketball open gyms will run on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30 throughout the fall.  Anyone who is interested in trying out for basketball in November is welcome and encouraged to attend!  Hope to see you there!
