Today is EVEN Period Day – Periods 2.4.6.8

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

The Lady Lionfish competed against Heritage yesterday in a dual meet.   Winners for the Lady Fish were Caroline Montgomery (50 and 100 free) and Megan Sanders in the 100 butterfly.   Next up is Highlands Ranch on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 4:00 p.m. in our pool.

Academic Announcements: 

Are you interested in International studies, diverse cultures, or learning about different ways of life?  If so, please come to the 21st Annual Diversity Conference at Cherry Creek High School on Feb. 1st.  This is a great opportunity to hear some amazing speakers and attend workshops that will open your eyes to a new world!  Please see Ms Prestel in the Social Studies by Wednesday Jan. 22nd office if you are interested--and one more thing, there is NO fee for the conference.

Club Announcements:

Attention everyone who is on the Student Council Pep Assembly Committee; we have a meeting after school TODAY in Conference room 3.  Please be there, we have to plan the Winter Sports assembly!!

Speech and debate team member are reminded to signup for February tournaments ASAP-- deadlines are approaching quickly.  If you are attending the Fort Collins trip, your packet is due at TODAY’s team meeting!

All unified partners going to the Pepsi Center must turn in their permission slip and waiver to Ms Encinias or Ms Stukey TODAY.

The 2014 LHS Winter Formal Dance theme is The Roaring 20s.  The dance is on Saturday, February 1st from 8-11pm.  It costs $8 for an individual and $14 per couple.  Tickets will go on sale starting Jan. 27th during lunches.

Winter Dance guest forms are available in student services and the main office. They are due Thursday, 1/30/14 at the student services office.

Peer Counselor’s Penny War is happening now!  Bring your spare change during A & B lunches.  Win a Starbucks or Chipotle gift card. Proceeds benefit Second Wind Fund.

The LPS swim waiver test will be held at Heritage High School on Thurs., Jan. 23 at 2:30 pm in the HHS pool.  The test is open to all current LPS students in grades 9-12.  For complete information on how to register with Ms. Rossing at Heritage, as well as a criteria sheet on what you need to know for the test, please stop by the counseling office.   Registration is limited, and the deadline to register at HHS is Wed., Jan. 22.

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

Congratulations to Our unified basketball team who opened their season with an outstanding 61-55 win over Arapahoe.   Way to Lions!  Our next game is Friday Jan. 24th at Chatfield High School.

Congratulations to all three Girls basketball teams as they all scored victories over Northglenn last night.  Our varsity girls have now earned an overall record of 10-1 and are currently ranked #13 in 5A basketball in the Denver Post poll.  Way to go ladies!  Don't miss the opportunity to come out and root them on Friday night at Legend High School as league play begins.

It's that time again, gamers.  The Role Playing Game club is holding another Super Smash Brothers tournament.  This time we will match skill and wits in a game of Project M.  The tournament is this Thursday in room 113 after school.  We will hold sign-ups until 2:40, and then it's on!  See Mr. Saliman if you have any questions.

Are you interested in being a member of the newspaper or yearbook staff next year?  Do you like writing stories, taking pictures, and helping tell the story of Littleton High School?  If so, come to an informational meeting in room 140 after school on Thursday, January 16.  You can ask questions, get an application, and have a snack.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Miss Kron or Mrs. Fisher.

DECA members attending state, you have a short informational meeting this Thursday at 2:20 in room 124. Please let Mr. Decker know if you cannot attend.

FBLA – Remember, District Tests are after school this week TODAY and tomorrow, Projects are due Wednesday.

The peer counselors are holding a penny war with proceeds to go towards the Second Wind Fund; whose mission is to decrease the incidence of suicide in children and youth by removing the financial and social barriers to treatment.  For the rest of January, the peer counselors will be outside the cafeteria during A and B lunches.  So bring your spare change and out compete your classmates and teachers.  

If you are interested in being a part of the creation, marketing, planning or filming of the lip dub this year, there will be a meeting in room 124 at 2:20 this Wednesday.

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

The LHS Speech and Debate team competed at the GW Patriot Games tournament on Saturday. Competing against 39 schools and 600+ students, Littleton had a strong showing.  Leading the way:

Sara Leovic took 5th in Lincoln-Douglas debate
Kelly Dineen and David Levine took 3rd in policy debate
and Zavier Hose finished 2nd in Interpretation of Poetry

Special Events:
