CONGRATULATIONS to the new officers for the Class of 2018!!  President:  Preston Novinger, Vice President Lucy Schreiber, Public Relations Officer--Sarah Urtz.  NICE JOB to everyone who gave their speeches and remember, if you picked up an Ambassador form and didn't turn it in yesterday, please put it on Ms Prestel's desk in the Social Studies office as soon as you can!

Special Events:

3rd annual Garage Sale and Car Wash hosted by the Choir Department is happening tomorrow at LHS from 8am until noon.

Academic Announcements: 

Attention Seniors!  Applications for the highly competitive and prestigious Boettcher Scholarship are now available to any senior who wishes to apply. Scholarships recipients receive a four-year full ride scholarship to any college or university in Colorado.  Amazing!   You can find all the details at the Boettcher Scholarship Online Application website.  The deadline for your completed application package is October 1st. Senior and parents – Jostens Graduation packets were handed out yesterday during Senior assembly. Graduation announcements and Cap & Gown order forms are in the Jostens packet.  Additional packets are outside of Student Service area.  Jostens will be at LHS next Tuesday – Thursday from 10:30am – 1pm in the Senior hall to place graduation orders. Discounts are available by ordering now.  Prices will increases later in the school year for late orders.

Current NHS students:  This is a friendly reminder that NHS' first meeting for Seniors is scheduled for after school on Monday, Sept. 8th in the Forum.  Come prepared to elect Senior officers or discuss why you feel like you would be a good senior officer.  Thanks and see you there!

Club Announcements: 

INK, the LHS literary and art magazine, is getting off the ground. Our first meeting will be Wednesday September 10 at 2:30 in room 112. Come to the meeting if you like to write, like to draw, like to take photos, or are interested in publishing.

Sports Announcements:

Open gyms for girls basketball begins again this Monday evening, September 8th from 6:30-8:30. Anyone interested in trying out in November is welcome to attend.  We look forward to seeing you there!

The Choir Department is holding its third annual Garage Sale and Car Wash fundraiser on Saturday, Sep 6, 8am-12pm, in the Littleton High School front parking lot, to help with the cost of choir outfits for the Troubadours and Syrens.  Donation items for the garage sale would be greatly appreciated, and can be dropped off in the theatre lobby Thursday Sep 4, Friday Sep 5, or the day of the garage sale, on Sep 6, between 7am-8am. (All unsold items will be donated to charity after the sale.) Volunteers to help set up and assist during the event are needed as well.  Come out and show your support for the choir department on Saturday Sep 6!  Bring your friends and family!

Parents - Please join us for our first PTO meeting of the year!   September 10th at 10am in the main office conference room.   We will hear from Dr Amy Oaks and Dr. David Shadwell.

Ping Pong Club is in need of two (2) gently used ping pong tables. If you have one that no longer serves a purpose in your home and wish to donate, please contact Suzanne Mountfort at smountfort@lps.k12.co.us or 303-347-7715.

Advance tickets can be purchased from Mr. Farrell in the choir room, for $6 each OR 4 tickets for $20.00. (Tickets are $7 each OR 4 for $25 at the event.) The menu includes: BBQ pulled pork or chicken sandwiches, salad, bottled water & dessert.  Come meet your LHS Encore! board members and other performing arts families. The FREE Collage Concert follows the BBQ, at 7pm, in the LHS North Gym.

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

The varsity Boys tennis team won their 2nd consecutive match yesterday, a 7 - 0 victory against Arvada. Wish the players good luck today as we are heading to Grand Junction for the Western Slope Open. Or stop by the courts after school today to see the JV take on Jeffco rival Columbine.

Special Events:

Attention all students, there is an Assembly today for the Freshmen to have their Student Council elections and for the other classes to meet and discuss issues relating to their classes.  Each class has a different meeting room, please listen: Freshmen meet in the North Gym on the Visitor side, Sophomores meet in the cafe in the atrium (by windows), Juniors meet in the south gym on and in front of the bleachers and seniors please meet in the forum.  The assembly starts after 1st period and will last 35 minutes.  Thanks!

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Tennis team for their 7 - 0 victory yesterday against Wheat Ridge in the season's first match. Come see the boys battle against Arvada after school today in the first home match.

Congratulations to the JV boys soccer team who defeated Rampart yesterday 3 to 0. Justin Schreiber, Adam Tinucci and Emmanuel Cooke scored for the Lions.

Juniors and Seniors, listen up!  If you have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater, you are eligible to be an honorary member of National Honor Society.  NHS is the oldest and one of the most respected student recognition organizations. To see if you are eligible, look at the bulletin board next to the counseling office.  Students who are eligible are listed by student ID #.  If you are already a senior member you do not need to re-apply.  Pick up your packet at the counseling office. Today is an EVEN Period Day – Periods 2.4.8.6

Student Recognition & Congratulations: 

Congratulations to the Lions Boys Golf team for their outstanding showing last Friday at Indian Tree Golf Course.  The team’s score of 327 is their best in the past three years.  Individual scores – Scott Robb, 76; Hil Abbott 83; Sam Schorer 83; Zach Huffer 85; Jacob Metzmaker 88.  The team finished 3rd among the JeffCo 4A schools, and beat many of the 5A teams as well!!  Great work guys!!  Good Luck on today at Fossil Trace!

The Heritage/Littleton 5A Softball team has the best batting average in the state.  In the tournament this weekend, Jaiden Kleiner made her Varsity debut at Shortstop ...as a freshman.  Gabby Matl went 5 for 5 with 2 doubles in the game against Pueblo West.  MaryAnn Quintana had a 0 ERA as the closing pitcher against Pueblo West and Broomfield.  Tonight is a huge 5A grudge match against Arapahoe at DeKoevand Park...7 pm.  Come join the crowd and cheer them on!

IBPO will host its first informational meeting this evening at 6pm in the Library.  The topic will be IB Overview.  Meet IB Coordinator Claudia Anderson, who will discuss the IB Learner Profile, the LHS IB Academic Performance Policy, and IB assessments.

Tryouts for Poms and Cheers start today.  For those interested in trying out for Cheerleading or Poms, you need to submit a current Physical with your application. If you already have a current physical on file with the Athletic Dept, please pick up a clearance card from athletics and turn it in with your application.

Attention Students:  There is new language in the code of conduct regarding Policy JICG tobacco use.  These changes are board approved and state "Students may not possess tobacco products or paraphernalia on school premises or at school-sponsored events."  Please remember that electronic cigarettes, vape pens, etc are considered to be tobacco paraphernalia.  Listed on page 18 of the LPS code of conduct are specifics regarding rules and consequences.
