CLUB & ACTIVITY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Speech and debate team members, we have a meeting today, after school in the speech room. We will discuss our second semester schedule, team shirts, and review lettering policies.

LHS Spirit Day is today 15th--it is time for you to dig out your Ugly Holiday Sweater for Student Council's 3rd Annual Ugly Sweater contest!!  Go to the cafe during A or B lunch and get your picture taken...or Go to Ms Prestels room 2610. You could win a $50 gift card! Get in the LHS Holiday Spirit!!

Remember,  if you took a snowflake off the Giving Snowman,  bring your gift to the Social Studies office and put it on Ms. Prestels’ desk, by December 21st.  Thank you  so much for supporting Musana.

ACADEMIC ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Test scores are now available for the PSAT. You may access them online at the College Board website. If you would like a copy of your PSAT test results, please see the Counseling Secretary. If you have questions or need assistance with your College Board account, please see your counselor.

BLOG ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The season of giving is upon us and we want to remember our Veterans and their families. One way to give back to those who have served our nation is to bring in your new, or slightly used winter coats and put them in the bins in the main lobby, library and cafeteria. Collection started Thurs. Dec. 7, and will finish after the new year, so look through your closets and give to our Veterans.

Students, each year, the Optimist Club sponsors an essay contest with a $2,500 college scholarship award. The topic for this year's contest is "Can Society Function Without Respect?" LHS students who were under the age of 18 on October 1st of this year are eligible to participate.  The deadline to submit essays is  February 12, 2018.  Application information is available at www.optimistinternational.org.  We'd love to see an LHS student win this award, so check out the website today.

STUDENT RECOGNITION AND CONGRATULATIONS:

Congratulations to our entire girls basketball program who all defeated our rival, Heritage last night!  Varsity beat the Eagles for the 6th straight year led by senior Rebekah Sandstrom's 14 rebounds and senior Olivia Schroeder's 25 points!!  Our 5-1 varsity Lions take on Thomas Jefferson tonight at LHS.  Come out and support your Lions!!

Congratulations to Elissa Volling for her successful audition into the Colorado All-State Orchestra!  Elissa was selected into the top Orchestra group in Colorado.  Congratulations!

Come out and support our girls basketball teams as they take on the Heritage Eagles at Heritage tonight.  Level 3 plays at 4:00, JV at 5:30, and our varsity looks to continue their winning streak over the Eagles at 7:00.  Then come out to cheer on our Lions as they take on #9 Thomas Jefferson here at LHS on Thursday in a big game!  Let's go Lions

CLUB & ACTIVITY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Lions, check out the YouTube link below.  It shows LHS sophomore Bella Hathorne on stage at the Convention Center Saturday afternoon.  To be  chosen from the hundreds of acts at Colorado Thescon to perform on Saturday afternoon is a huge honor. Though the video is blurry at times, the audio is great, and you can see how large her audience was.  Congratulations, Bella!

GSA will be holding its final meeting of the semester today, come join us for some pizza, games, and planning for next semester.  We'll be meeting in room 1604 after school today.

Greenhouse club holiday meeting will be today the 12th right after school. Come for our final meeting of 2017.

Giving Snowman is here!  This very special Snowman is a way for all of us at LHS to give some gifts to the Musana Orphans in Uganda, Africa.  Pick a snowflake off the Snowman and buy the gifts suggested on the snowflake and it will be sent to Uganda to give a young Ugandan a wonderful holiday surprise!  Bring the gifts up to Ms. Prestel's desk in the Social Studies office by Dec. 21.

STUDENT RECOGNITION AND CONGRATULATIONS:

The LHS Theatre Department had a fantastic weekend at the 2017 Thespian Conference.  13 students qualified for the National conference that takes place this summer. 
For costume design:  Celeigh Zokaitis
                                   (Kaylee Zoh-ky-tus)
For monologues: Natalie Parkhurst & Makayla McLoughlin.
For Scenes: Avery Zieper, Alex Green, Aaron Nice, Turner DeShon,
Hannah Pederson & Grace Crabb
For song: Bella Hathorne, Leah Thorp, Makayla McLoughlin, Natalie Parkhurst, Harmony Slankard & Priya Kearns.
In addition,Bella Hathorne was selected to perform in the "Critics Showcase" at the closing ceremonies for the conference.  She was one of 16 people asked to perform out of the 1600 students that auditioned at the conference.

CLUB & ACTIVITY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

A reminder to National Honor Society members that you have a meeting in the forum after school today, 12/11.

Leo club is meeting after school today in the cafeteria. We will be
playing croquet.

Sophomore student council members, you have a class council meeting after school today in Mr. Saliman's room, 1746.  We are discussing the winter dance and creating committees for the work ahead.

Greenhouse club holiday meeting will be on Tuesday the 12th right after school. Come for our final meeting of 2017.
