STUDENT BULLETIN:

Students, starting next week, the purple fire doors around the building will be locked at 4:00 pm daily for security reasons. Unless you’re a participant in a club, activity, or athletic event, you should be well on your way home or to work by this time! The only way to get to the gyms after 4:00 pm will be to go around to the Athletics Entrance. Halls and classrooms past the main lobby will be inaccessible. Thank you for your understanding!

AP students: Please take the time to make sure you have paid your AP exam fees. You can see your fees on Infinite Campus under the fee tab. They were due October 1st, and are now considered late. See Mrs. Zerr in Counseling if have any questions.

Reminder: The deadline to submit the Concurrent Enrollment Paperwork is Tuesday, October 30th! Students must return the completed packet to Mr. Puchino in the Counseling Office.

Seniors, it is time to pick the class song, motto, and flower for the class of 2019! Please check your school email for the first form that went out yesterday to nominate your favorites. The deadline to submit these entries will be this Monday, October 29th. After that time, you will receive a second email to vote on the finalists.

Halloween-o-grams are on sale at the Attendance Office today! For only a dollar, you can send your friend a note, which includes a temporary tattoo and a raffle ticket!

Monday is the lip sync battle in the cafeteria during A and B lunches! Join in the fun for only a buck a song. Tuesday is the pumpkin carving contest! Stop by the cafeteria Tuesday after school, and carve a pumpkin. It's free! There are prizes for the winners, and your pumpkins will be on display all day long on Halloween!

When planning for Halloween, please remember that costumes need to be in keeping with school dress code requirements. For safety reasons, masks and full make-up are not allowed because they prevent us from seeing you!

CLUB & ACTIVITY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Frisbee Ultimate team won their game against GW. The score was a saucy 11 to 4. Shoutout to Brian Sirner for helping out the team in their last regular season game before they head to the State tournament!

Today after school - Jazz In The Lobby! Come swing and dance along to the sounds of your LHS Jazz Ensemble! See you in the Main Lobby after school this afternoon.

There is a General Student Council meeting on Tuesday, October 30th, at 7:45 am, in the Forum.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

There will be a Boys Basketball Informational Meeting today in the Health Room at 3:40 pm. All interested players and managers should plan to attend this meeting to get information on registration, gear, and mini-camp and tryout dates and times.

Come cheer on your Girls Gymnastics Team tomorrow morning as they take the floor for Regionals! Competition begins at 10:00 am at Overland High School! Go, Lions!

If you are interested in participating, please go to the Key Club website to print off permission slips; bring them to tomorrow's meeting.

Tickets are available at the box office during both lunches, or at the door. Students receive a $2 discount, so tickets are only $6!

STUDENT BULLETIN:

Today, we wrap up our recognition of our classified employees by recognizing the work of three employees who touch the lives of every single LHS student. Marion Ruby and Lou Mednick run the Library Media Center, and Sean Jones runs our building technology. These are the folks who make sure you have a chromebook, wifi, and a website. They purchase every book and online subscription in the library. Together, they create an outstanding learning environment for students every single day. When you see them, please say a big “thank you” to them!

CLUB & ACTIVITY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

At this past weekends Model UN conference at Boulder High School, Tallulah Torres and Harvey Rainwater won an Honorable Mention Award for their representation of Kuwait in their first Model UN Security Council Simulation. Congratulations, Tallulah and Harvey!

There will be a Model UN Club meeting at 8:00 am this Tuesday, October 23rd, in Room 2609. All students who are interested in learning about the National High School Model UN Conference opportunity in New York in early March must attend. Additionally, registration for the November 10th Legend and Cherokee Trail High School Model UN Conference will be discussed. Model UN is a great activity to included in your college applications, and IB CAS Hours can also be gained.

Everyone is welcome to join Leo Club tomorrow morning at 7:50 am in room 2605 to discuss our upcoming volunteer activities.

Way to go, Girls Varsity Cross Country team! The Lady Lions harriers are heading to State following a successful outing at the 4A Region 2 Cross Country Meet in Colorado Springs! The Regional team, which finished 4th, included Hailey Lockhart, Emily Caldwell, Eva deThomas, Lane Greenly, Rachel Tobler, Grace Greenly, Morgan Kelly, Emily Holzman and Olivia Landers. The girls 4A race steps off at State this coming Saturday afternoon at the Norris Penrose Equestrian Center in Colorado Springs. Good luck, Lions!

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Cross Country team on their success at the Regional Meet this past Thursday! They are headed back to State for the first time in nearly 10 years! Christian Sapakoff led the Lions, finishing 15th. Christian Olsen was not far behind, followed by Cooper Brown, Matthew Sapakoff, Grady Redding, Henry Jackson, Donny Marshall, Colin McCormick and Hans Romine. The boys will race this coming Saturday at the State Meet in Colorado Springs. Senior Alex Dran will also compete in the Unified Race. Let’s go, Lions!
