CONGRATULATIONS:
Please congratulate our speech and debate program as the National Speech and Debate Association has recognized them for being one of the leading chapters in the nation!. Of more than 4000 participating schools, only 103 schools were selected for this honor, and it is a direct result of the hard work, determination, support, and abilities our team showed last year. This took place during a year when the team couldn't even be in a room together, and the team still showed up and performed at the top level.
Also, our team has a tournament tomorrow, the virtual Raptor Rumble through Eaglecrest, so please cheer us on.
And finally, team members, we have a meeting today after school in the speech room - that's room 1102. We will celebrate our award and go over details for tomorrow's tournament.

Yesterday (Nov. 18th), LHS DECA competed at their District competition and took home the top team trophy, the Chapter Productivity Award. It's given to the DECA school whose students have the highest overall average score per member. Along with this chapter award, LHS DECA had nearly half of its team, 23 members, qualify for the State competition. Those qualifying to attend the DECA State Competition include: Bex Batenburg, Catherine Dutmer, Ashlyn Farnham, Trevor Metz, Colletta Schiller, Olga Sorbala, Luke DuMoulin, Zach Long, Nick Hopper, Mia Wyte, Catherine May, Sara Rinehart, Belle Geist, Morgan Kelly, Grady Redding, McKenzie Pullar, Angelina Holm, Shannon Connor, Charlie Denman, Max Regan, Abby McPherson, Lane Greenly, and Cabot McMahon. Additionally, 5 LHS DECA members received Top Test Score Awards including Trevor Metz, Luke DuMoulin, Zach Long, Catherine May, and Grady Redding.
Congratulations to Abby McPherson, and all of the LHS DECA Officers, for leading their teammates to the top chapter award at District.
