Student Recognition & Congratulations:

CONGRATS TO THE NEW CLASS OF 2013 OFFICERS!!! Ryan Dineen is your new President and Alec Williams is your new Vice President!! There will be interviews starting next week for top vote getters in the Public Relations office and for all those interested in being an Ambassador. Way to go guys!

First Speech and Debate Team meeting will be today September 11th at 2:30pm in room 114. All are invited!


Sports Announcements:

Congratulations to the Freshman A and Varsity volleyball teams who walked away with victories last night. Freshman A defeated the Bears in three hard fought games. Varsity dominated in 3 sets. 25-14; 25-14; 25-17!

Come support the lady lions at two home matches next week on Tuesday and Thursday!

The boy’s JV soccer team defeated Douglas County 5-3!! Winning goals were scored by Ben Martinez, Phillip Mathys, Max Segal, and Jose Morales with two goals.


Academic Announcements:

Do you LOVE LHS? Are you really involved in academics, activities and/or sports? How about becoming a LION AMBASSADOR tour guide for prospective students and families? Pick up an application in the IB Department and return it by Friday, Sept. 18. Questions: See Ms. Anderson or Mrs. Stulock on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.

Juniors- You can register for the PSAT in the Counseling Office. Cost is $20.00, cash or check made to LHS. Test date is Wed., Oct. 14 beginning at 7:30 am. Please see Ms. Railey for more information.

Tufts University will visit on Monday September 14, 2009 in the Post Grad at 10:00am. Please see Ms. Allen for more information.


Special Events:

“Homecoming Dance”

The guest forms are ready to be picked up in the main office or student services for the Homecoming dance on September 26, 2009. If you are bringing an out of school guest, please fill one out and return it to student services no later than, Thursday, September 24th.


Other Announcements:

Jostens will be here next Tuesday and Wednesday September 15th and 16th for graduation orders between 10:00and 1:00 in the Senior hall.

Congratulations to the Varsity Soccer team who beat Arapahoe High School yesterday 3-0!! Go LIONS.

LIONS Men’s Tennis team beat Ponderosa yesterday 5-2!



Club Announcements:

FBLA will be having a meeting TODAY, September 10, 2009 in room 124 at 2:20 pm. We will be working on homecoming plans and our upcoming fundraiser.

The Peace Jam and International Affairs Club will meet today between 2:20 and 2:50pm in room 206. Anyone with an interest in International and Human Rights Issues is welcome.

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

The boys JV soccer team won its first game 3 to 0 against Doherty on Saturday. Goals were scored by Max Segal, Christian Mendez, and Connor Fergueson.

Congratulations to the LIONS Boys Tennis team who beat Douglas County last night 7-0!

A small but strong squad of cross country runners braved the wind and dust to run at Brighton last night. Great performances on the boys side by Dillon Cogdal, Zach Zambo, Taylor Shelly and Jordan Peacock. And on the girls side Sloan Smith and Sarah Breyfogle. Congratulations to all who ran.

DONT FORGET--all freshmen who are planning on run for a student council office position, make sure you get your packet and speech into Ms. Prestel by Wed. Sept. 9th at 3:30 at the very latest!! You need to have all forms approved so you can give your speech on Thurs. Ms Prestel is in the Social Studies office upstairs. Thanks!

Any girls interested in basketball and not participating in fall sports should come to pre-season practices on Tuesday nights from 7:00pm-8:30pm now through November 3rd.

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

The boys and girls cross country teams had a great start to their 2009 season last Friday and Saturday! The girls team had tight packs in both the Varsity and JV races with the Varsity lead by captains Mackenzie Mitchell and Courtney Berg to a 7th place finish, while the JV was lead by Melissa White and London Ullrich to a 4th place finish. The boys fought hard and were lead by Riley Mulhern and James McNally to 19th and Bret Granrud lead the JV to a 12th place finish. On Saturday Kaylee Witt lead the girls to a 3rd place finish while Dillon Cogdal lead the boys to a 4th place finish.

Congratulations to the LIONS football team with their Victory over Kennedy last Friday night! LIONS scored 45-6

Congratulations to the LIONS Varsity soccer team for a great game with the tying score of 1-1!!
Club Announcements:

The LHS GSA meets today after school in art room 143. We will be electing officers, so if you want to be involved with the Gay Straight Alliance this year, be there!

The LHS Ping Pong club is having its first meeting today, September 8th. Anyone who is interested should stop by room 121 at 2:30 today to have any questions answered and for a free otter pop while supplies last.
