Student Recognition & Congratulations:

Congratulations to the Lions Football team and their victory over Prairie View last night 24-6!!

The JV soccer team defeated Ponderosa 2 to 1 in the snow yesterday. Scoring for the Lions were Cory Wake and Ricardo Morales.

Congratulations to the Freshman A, Sophomore & Varsity lady lions for their victories over the Gateway Olympians last night. The Freshman team was led by Jordan Brewer with 8 assists, Rachel Ericson and Sarah Gerken both had four aces. Mary Fielder on the sophomore team had a total of 14 aces. Varsity’s offense was led by Laura Whalen 18 kills; 5 Aces; 12 digs, Colleen McAnallan 17 Digs, Hannah Vadakin 10 Kills, Alex 32 Assists; 12 digs. -- Come cheer on your lady lions at home next Tuesday against the Regis Raiders.

The Boys Tennis team is nearing the end of another terrific season with a 3rd place finish at the regional tournament. Individual awards included 3rd place finishes for Konrad Moss and Ian Craighead and 2nd place for Thomas Carson, Ben Williamson, Alec Segall and Jack Wheeler. Leading the way were state qualifiers Peter Blei, Kevin Dibala, and Ben Cohen. Congratulations to all the team.


Sports Announcements:

Any student interested in wrestling this winter is welcome to come to Heritage for preseason wrestling at Heritage on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 2:45 to 4:30 p.m. This is for athletes not currently involved with a fall sport. Just catch the activity bus from LHS to Heritage on those days at 2:20pm. Wrestlers of all sizes and shapes are welcome and you do not need experience. Stop in to our athletic office for more information.

Juniors and Seniors… The Cherry Creek College Fair is tomorrow, Saturday October 10th. There will be representatives from 200 colleges and universities at Cherry Creek High School from 10am – 2 pm and also free college workshops throughout the day. If you would like a list of the schools participating stop by the Post Grad Center.

Due to Student/Parent/Teacher conferences, Lockheed Martin will only be here for tutoring on Tuesday, Oct. 13th next week. Regular sessions will resume on Tuesday, October 20th.

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

Congratulations to the Varsity soccer team for their win over Chaparral last night 3-1!

Thanks to all of the great fan support last night at the varsity volleyball match last night. The Lady Lions dropped a hard fought five set match to the visiting Thunder Ridge Grizzlies. The two hour battle ended with scores of 16-20, 25-20, 16-25, 26-24, and 17-19. Senior, Alex Deines guided the offense with 43 assists and had 25 digs on the night. Junior, Laura Whalen led the offense with 15 kills, 3 aces, and 26 digs. Senior, Hannah Vadakin added 12 kills to round out the top stats for the night. Thanks to all who supported the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, who came out in their pink and donated to the cancer research fund. LHS earned near $200.00 to give to the Susan Komen Cancer Research Fund!

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

The Boys tennis teams completed their regular seasons last week with victories over Mountain Vista and Chaparral. The JV completed their season with a record of 8-2, while the varsity was 7-3 and is going to the regional tournament this Wednesday and Thursday. 10 seniors are completing their awesome tennis careers with LHS, including Co-Captains Peter Blei and Konrad Moss, doubles stars Alex Leovic, Eric Schunk, Kevin Dibala, Jack Wheeler, Alec Segall, and JV stalwarts Andrew Ellermann, Mike McCoy and Broc Baird. Good luck.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Tonight the LHS Lion Volleyball Program is honoring this special cause. Baked goods will be sold throughout the day, at the volleyball matches, and there will be a raffle during the varsity match to help earn money for Breast Cancer Research. Come to the home volleyball match tonight and wear PINK!!! If you wear pink you will receive a free raffle ticket! All other raffle tickets may be purchased for $1.00. Come support your Lady Lion Volleyball Team and support Breast Cancer Awareness Month! WEAR PINK!!!

Any girls interested in basketball and not participating in fall sports should come to pre-season practices on Tuesday nights from 7:00pm-8:30pm now through November 3rd.
