Today is a LATE START - ODD period block day – Periods 1.3.5.7

Student Recognition & Congratulations:


The Freshman, Sophomore, and JV volleyball teams all won in two games last night. Come cheer them on and show your support tomorrow night at Thunder Ridge high school. The freshman and sophomores play at 4:30, JV starts at 5:30, and the varsity match starts at 6:30. 

Congrats to Boys tennis - The varsity beat Ponderosa 7 - 0.  And the JV won 5-0 to extend their record to 5 and1.  Next up is a rivalry match vs. Heritage on Thursday.  Come out to support your team.  Go LIONS!!

Club Announcements:

Greetings and welcome back Philosophers and thinkers.  Philosophy Club will hold its first meeting tomorrow after school in room 103.  Anyone is welcome to stop by to discuss ideas, argue your case and hear a variety of points of view. 

The first Key Club meeting will be held tomorrow in room 211 after school. Everyone is welcome!  We will be discussing community service activities for the year and there will be ice cream.  Hope to see you there!

Attention all RETURNING Speech and Debate Team members: please join us at our first meeting of the year this Friday, at 2:30 in the NEW speech room-- the library classroom.  This meeting is only for returning members.  Spread the word!

Homecoming Royalty Nominations are happening this week!  Head down to the hallway outside of the cafeteria during A or B lunch the rest of this week to nominate ONE Boy and ONE Girl from your class to be on the Homecoming Royalty Court.  After nominations are done this week, we will be voting next week!  So come on down!

HOMECOMING IS NEXT WEEK— Tuesday, Sept. 17th will be a Class Dodge Ball Tournament in the north gym and will pit ONE TEAM from each class against each other to find out who will be the greatest Dodge Ball class in the school!  On Wednesday, Sept. 18th the Girls Powder Puff game will take place on the grass soccer fields at 2:45pm, one team per class.  On Thursday, Sept. 19th at 2:30pm in the North Gym will be the Guys Volleyball match - you can have as many teams from your class as you can get together!!  Sign up on your class bulletin boards in the Language Arts hallway and be ready to give it your best next week!

Sport Announcements:

Girls Basketball open gyms will run on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30 throughout the fall.  Anyone who is interested in trying out for basketball in November is welcome and encouraged to attend!  Hope to see you there!

Special Events:

LHS ENCORE! will host a meet & greet BBQ before the Collage Concert tonight at 5:00pm in the front parking lot (in case of rain, in the main lobby). Everyone is welcome and proceeds benefit LHS Performing Arts.  Please see Mr. Farrell for tickets. The FREE Collage Concert follows the BBQ, at 7pm, in the LHS Theatre.

Homecoming Dance Guest forms are available in Student Services. They are due Thursday, September 19th. The Homecoming dance will be held Saturday, September 21st.

Welcome to LHS PTO 2013-2014:  Our first PTO meeting is Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the LHS Administrative Conference Room, 199 E. Littleton Blvd.  Please note: Scott Murphy, LPS Superintendent, will be making a presentation during this meeting.  Please feel free to bring your questions about LHS Buildings and Facilities or the Bond Issue to this meeting.  He appreciates input from our LHS Community.  I'm looking forward to a fun and exciting year ahead and I appreciate your involvement in your student's school through PTO.  A complete list of PTO meeting dates for the year is listed on the PTO tab of the LHS website.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Please invite your friends.  Everyone is welcome here!  GO LIONS!!

Hello Littleton Parents-Come join your fellow LHS parents at Merle’s Restaurant on Friday, September 20 for homecoming parade viewing. You can watch from the rooftop deck or at street level… Merle’s will have areas reserved for us. Come have a snack and cheer on your favorite student! Merle’s will be giving 10% of all proceeds to LHS PTO After Prom, so it’s the perfect way to spend a fall afternoon! SAVE THE DATE:  The LPS Foundation is having their 18th annual Stride 2013 on Sunday, October 27 at the Littleton Museum.  Register online at www.runthestride.com  or register in person at the Boulder Running Company, 8116 W. Bowles Avenue in Littleton OR at Run Colorado, 8505 E. Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial from Friday, Sept 27, through 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 23.  Join your fellow students in either a 5K or 10K race through the beautiful streets of Littleton.  We have been challenged to win the High School Competition for a third year in a row so we need to have as many participants as possible join the "Littleton High School" team.  If our school has the largest percentage of participants, we win $1,000 again.  GO LIONS!!!
