Student Recognition & Congratulations:

Congratulations to the winners of the Halloween Costume Contest!  We had a record number of participants this year, which made the selections tough!  Here you go:  Most Creative:  Ona Morgan, Scariest:  Kendall Lassiter, Cutest:  Maddie Fuchs, Funniest:  Ryan Famiglietti, Best Group:  Rachel Pearson, Laura Puchino, Haley Hanna, Madeline Espinoza, Kayla Sapakoff and Kathryn Gerken, and Ms Prestel's choice:  Mr. Marshall!  Please come by the Social Studies office during A lunch anytime this week and pick up your prizes!!  Thanks for participating!

LHS's Speech and Debate team had a successful first tournament of the year at the Cherry Creek Classic.  We had a large number of students earn 'superior' and 'excellent' mentions, and we placed three students in Lincoln-Douglas debate.  Livvy Fore placed sixth, Emily Cassio placed fifth, and Sara Leovic placed third in LD debate.  Great work!  We look forward to more success at our next tournament this weekend at the Golden Demon Invitational.

Academic Announcements:

Representatives from Gonzaga University and the University of Wyoming will be here today to talk with Junior and Seniors. The Gonzaga visit takes place at 8 am and Wyoming at 9:30. Both will be held in the Counseling office.

Test results from the LHS testing day will be distributed to students who took the test as follows:
• EXPLORE (9th grade):  Distributed in Advisement classes Nov. 11/12
• PLAN (10th grade):  Distributed in Social Studies Nov. 6
• Practice ACT (11th grade):  Distributed in Social Studies Nov. 14/15
Students who are absent on the days of distribution can pick up their results AFTER the above listed dates in the Counseling Office. 

Club Announcements:

Attention all Student Council Ambassadors, officers and general council members, we have a General Council meeting in the forum starting at 2:20 this afternoon.  We will do Halloween event evaluations, discuss lions follies and get ready for the Tri-School leadership conference. See you there!

The Role Playing Game club is having another video game tournament.  This Thursday we will host a Super Smash Brothers Melee tournament in room 113 after school.  Last month was a blast, and we hope to have just as much fun this time.  Sign ups are posted in the language arts hallway. We are also using this as an opportunity for a food drive.  If you plan on attending, please bring a canned good or dry food item, something non-perishable and preferably something Thanksgiving themed like a can of cranberries or a box of dry potato flakes.  See Mr. Saliman if you  have any questions.

World Club will meet in Room 206 on Tuesday, November 5th between 2:20 and 2:45.

Sport Announcements:

All unified partners please turn application ASAP. We will have a parent meeting TODAY at 6:30 in the forum. You cannot practice unless your application is turned in completed.

ATTENTION LADY LIONFISH - ALL GIRLS GOING OUT FOR SWIMMING AND DIVING ARE REMINDED OF THE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT MEETING THIS THURSDAY, NOV. 7, AT 2:20 P.M. IN THE POOL AREA.  PLANS FOR THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON ON NOV. 13TH WILL BE DISCUSSED.  SEE YOU THURSDAY!

Girls basketball players; open gym times are on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:00-7:00 pm.  We encourage interested players to attend, and remind you that tryouts are on November 13.

Special Events:

Lions Follies tickets are on sale starting TODAY-Monday-in the cafeteria during lunches and at the ticket booth after school. The price is $6 and they are General Admission.  Also, ACT ONE dress rehearsal is today, please make sure you are in the theater at 3pm sharp!  Tuesday is ACT TWO rehearsal, if this is your act, please be in the theater at 3pm also.

Other Announcements:

The third annual LHS Performing Arts Music & Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, Nov 9, 9 am-4 pm, in the LHS South Gym and Cafeteria.  All proceeds from the Craft Fair will be used to further the education of LHS Performing Arts students.  Come and enjoy the live music provided by our very talented Performing Arts students, and wrap up your holiday shopping early this year! 

Blog Announcements:

Be there or be square! See some wonderfully talented LHS students at the unique Lions Follies show on November 8th or 9th! Remember to bring a little extra cash for the PTO Bake Sale, taking place in the lobby before and after Lions Follies. Plan on buying some delicious treats to bring home, or snack on during intermission. All proceeds go to PTO After-Prom. You support is appreciated!!! (Plus you get to enjoy some delicious goodies!!!)

Holiday/Break Food Baskets
Students and staff:  The Thanksgiving holiday is rapidly approaching, and Littleton High School would like to ensure that every student and their family has a holiday meal.  If you are able to make a donation or know of someone who could benefit from receiving a holiday food basket contact Mr. Hahn in the Counseling Department. 

Students taking AP courses who are in need of financial assistance should stop by the Counseling Office for information regarding the ESCAPE Grant.  ESCAPE stands for Eliminating Student Cost for Advanced Placement Exams. This is a federal grant program sponsored through the Colorado Department of Education.  TODAY is the deadline for completed applications to be returned to Counseling.

Sign up for all LHS students for the swim test held at Littleton are in the Counseling Office.  The test is offered on two separate days, Mon., Nov. 11 or Tues., Nov. 12, at 2:30 pm in the LHS pool-DRESSED and ready to swim.  Students must sign up, as space is limited and you must attend the date you sign up for.  The deadline to sign up is Fri., Nov. 8. For further information and a skills criteria sheet, please stop by the Counseling Office. 

Calling all Littleton Public Schools ice hockey players! Tryouts for the Winter CHSAA season are Nov. 13 and 15 at the Ice Ranch in Littleton at 3PM. Visit www.heritagelpshockey.org for details.

All students who are planning to participate in Winter Sports must register on-line on the Athletic website and ensure the Athletic Dept has a current physical form for you on file, before participating in the sport. Some students have handed in their physical forms but have not yet registered.
