STUDENT BULLETIN

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

The Wrestling team had a big week last week.   On Thursday, the team fought hard and defeated both Golden and Evergreen High Schools.   It was a great night.    On Saturday, the varsity went to Evergreen for a tournament.   Aron Pino Valenzuela was challenged for the first time all season, but overcame the competition to win his 5th tournament victory of the year and remain undefeated.   Scott Corwin returned from injury to place 2nd, with Greg Kennedy taking 4th and Poe Di placing 6th.   The JV team wrestled tough at Thunderridge High School where Brandon Gomez and Tri Bui were undefeated in their brackets.

Special Events:

Winter Dance is almost here....and the theme is Beach Party!!  Stays tuned for your dress up days next week, but know they will be fun in the sun days!  And girls if you truly want to make Winter Dance a fun one, YOU ask that special guy to the dance.  The date is Saturday Jan. 30th, time 8-11pm and the cost is $8. Tickets will go on sale Monday in the cafe. Let's think sun and have some fun!

Key Club is collecting gently used girls party dresses sizes 5 to 16 to donate to the Runyon Elementary School father/ daughter dance dress exchange.  If you or your family has any suitable dresses that you no longer need, please bring them to Ms. Anthamatten in the Foreign Language office.  You can leave them on her chair!  Thank you.

All interested seniors who want to help plan SWAG should attend the committee's first meeting Thursday at 2:25 pm in the Forum.

Academic Announcements:

If you want to participate in Littleton High School's STEM Certificate Program, visit the STEM webpage on the LHS website to find the online registration form.  Take note that there are two different forms available, one for current Littleton students and one for incoming Freshmen.  Be sure to read all of the information on the STEM website in order to fully understand the requirements of the STEM program.  All current freshmen, sophomores and juniors are welcome to participate.

For students needing help in Math & Science, Lockheed Martin tutoring will be here Thursday from 6:00-7:30pm in room 1740.  Please use the forum entrance.

All Pre-IB sophomores: You have a mandatory meeting during A and B lunches on Thursday, in the Forum. Ms. Anderson and Mrs. Stulock will talk about courses for next year and the commitment to IB. Bring your lunch and plan to be there.

Club & Activity Announcements:

The Model UN Club will meet TODAY at 2:20 in Room 2609. All students planning to participate in this Saturday's Colorado Springs Model UN Conference need to attend.

Hey guys! There is a TSA meeting at 2:20 pm Thursday in the Tech Lab! Please don't miss it. We will be voting on t-shirt designs and you will have work time. Be there so we can update on state information. We need everyone there!

FBLA members we have a meeting Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2:20 pm in room 1977.  We will be working on presentations for districts!  District is Friday, February 12 at Johnson and Wales University.  See you on Thursday!

FCCLA is meeting this Thursday in room 1972 (Culinary room). If you are going to District Conference you must bring your pre-arranged absence form and $20 registration. We will be practicing for Salsa Wars.

Littleton’s Gay-Straight Alliance will meet every Thursday in the art Hallway, room 1218, after school.  We have snacks!

Sports Announcements:

Come cheer on your Unified Basketball Team TONIGHT at Heritage.  Game starts at 6 pm.  Let's fill their gym with purple.  All Unified Partners need to arrive at Heritage by 5:45.

Blog Announcements:

The Winter Dance is January 30th. The guest forms are available at student services and the main office. They will be due Thursday January 28th.

Students turn in your books from 1st semester and avoid a fine in Infinite Campus.

Poetry Scholars - please go to Mr. Uhl’s room and to pick up your poetry portfolios.

For students needing help in any subject or with organization, National Honor Society students are in the counseling office every period through the end of the semester.

Littleton High School's STEM Certificate Program will host our second annual "Hour of Code" event Wednesday, January 27th right after school in the LHS cafeteria any time between 2:30-4:30pm.  All LPS students and prospective LPS students,  staff and family members are welcome to join us for a chance to prove to yourself that YOU, yes YOU can write a genuine piece of computer code in about an hour.  We'll have food, music, laptops and everything you'll need to give this a try. For inspiration and to learn why you want to come, watch this super short video that will convince you that everyone needs to know about coding.  An online registration is now open and you can find it on the LHS homepage.  If you have questions, please email Ms. Reimers, STEM Program Coordinator at rreimers@lps.k12.co.us.

Parents, mark your calendars for 2 fun upcoming social events you will not want to miss.  First, have you ever wondered what your students are doing during after-prom that is so fun.  Now is your chance to find out.  Your Littleton PTO is hosting a “Pre-After Prom Parent Party.”  Come see what LHS students do in the wee hours when Prom is finished and they continue their fun at Brunswick Zone. LHS PTO is reserving bowling lanes from 6:30-8:30 pm on the evening of Friday, Feb. 12, so come hang out with fellow LHS parents-- bowl, chat, eat….and enjoy a night out.  Tickets are $20, and include bowling and shoe rental.  More information and tickets available at www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0544a9ac22abfc1-preafter. The fun continues on Monday, March 14th for a fun Billiards night out.  Littleton is home one of Denver’s premiere pool halls, FELT Billiards.  Come join LHS athletes and parents as we celebrate the start of Spring sports season.  Everyone is welcome including students, parents, coaches, siblings from 6:00-9:00pm.  $15 per person covers buffet, unlimited pool, darts and games.
