STUDENT BULLETIN

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

Congratulations to your LHS Jazz Ensemble who scored an Excellent Rating at the Mile High Jazz Festival this past Friday afternoon.  Duncan Britt, Ronja Vaitaitis and Christian Wentz were also recognized as Outstanding Soloists at the Festival.

Special Events:

VAL O GRAMS are here!!  Find a Student Council member and buy that special person a Val-O-Gram and a box of candy for ONE dollar!  They will be on sale until Thursday February 11th. We will have students selling during both lunches.  Give someone a Happy Valentines!

Harlem Wizards are coming to town on Friday, February 12th @ 7pm.  Don't miss the Harlem Wizards vs the Littleton Legends. These super-star basketball players will show their skills, drills and tricks against Littleton teachers, staff & high school students. This fun evening will be held at the LHS gym. Buy your tickets NOW!   Tickets are available to purchase online and in the Athletic Office. Invite your friends, family, teammates, and neighbors to this fun community event!

Do you have a talent no-one knows about?  Can you sing or maybe dance?  If so, you need to sign up for LIONS FOLLIES!  This is Student Council's annual Talent and Variety Show to make money for Prom.  We need all kinds of acts--singing, dancing, bands, skits, juggling....whatever you can do; we would love to have you!  Audition sign-up sheets are in the theater hallway and in the language arts hallway next to the Student Council bulletin boards.  Auditions are NEXT week Feb. 16-19.  We hope to see you there!

Club & Activity Announcements:

FBLA members, don't forget that this Friday, February 12, 2016 is the FBLA District Leadership Conference!  Make sure to get your permission slip from Mrs. Martin and get ready to compete!  See you at the bus bright and early at 6:15 am at the Athletic Entrance!  Bring your questions to Mrs. Martin!

Key Club meets Thursday 11th at 2.15 in room 2620.  We will be making dog toys out of old T shirts for the Dumb Friends League.  If you have any old, worn out T shirts to donate, bring them along to the meeting.  If you don't have any T shirts, come anyway - we've had lots of donations already.

Littleton’s Gay-Straight Alliance will meet Thursday in the art Hallway, room 1218, after school. See you there!

Academic Announcements:

Registration for the 2016-2017 school year will be in the Forum during A or B lunch as follows:
Current 10th graders for junior year               TODAY, (2/9)
Current 9th graders for sophomore year        February 11 & 12
Current 11th graders for senior year               February 16 & 17

For students needing help in Math & Science, Lockheed Martin tutoring will be here Thursday from 6:00-7:30pm in room1740 .  Please use the forum entrance.

Blog Announcements:

Practice ASVAB test (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is Wednesday, February 17th in Room 1610 at 2:20pm.  The test is free of charge and all students are welcome!  Sign up in the Counseling office by Friday, February 12th.  Approximate end -time is 3:15 pm.

PSAT test scores are available for pick up in the Counseling Office.

Attention ALL Juniors!  Sorry you can’t sleep in on February 24th,  even though it’s a late start Wednesday because your MANDATORY “Junior Advisement” session will take place that morning. All Juniors are required to attend this Junior Advisement session.  Students with last names beginning with A-L need to report to your assigned classroom at 7:20am.  Last names beginning with M-Z report to classrooms at 8:05am.  When you enter the building, check for your name on the class lists which will be posted in the front lobby.  Report to the Business Hallway classroom to which you’re assigned.  Remember, no bus transportation will be provided for this early session. If you have questions, stop by Post Grad.

Students we would like to share information with you about the Colorado State Assessments for this year.  Due to the late decisions made by the state legislature, not all of the details have been finalized. We will share information with you in a timely manner.

What we do know:
Freshmen will take the PARCC test in English Language Arts and Math.  This test is online and will be given April 19 - 21.
Sophomores will take the PSAT on April 20.  This test is paper/pencil and will not qualify students for National Merit.
Juniors will take the ACT on April 19 and PARCC Science on April 21.  ACT is paper/pencil, while PARCC will be online.  **** Juniors who are interested in receiving a voucher to take the ACT+ Writing, must sign up in the LHS Counseling Office by this Friday, February 5. That test will be given off campus on April 9.

Testing will be done in the morning, we will have a lunch period, and classes will be held after lunch. More details to come about bell schedule, bus times, and Room assignments.  Stay Tuned!
