Student Recognition and Congratulations:

Congratulations to your LHS "Lion Pride" Marching Band who competed at the Pomona Marching Band Invitational on Saturday.  The "Lion Pride" Band qualified into the evening Finals competition and improved their score and placement finishing 11th overall out of 24 competing bands.  Go Band!!

Special Events:

Blood Drive is Thursday, sponsored by NHS and Bonfils.  Don’t miss your opportunity to help save a live.  Sign up with Mr. Hahn in the Counseling Office.  Spaces are limited.

Are you a singer?  How about a juggler?  Or maybe you are good at dancing?  If so, Lions Follies wants you!  Student Council is holding their annual Talent Show called Lions Follies on Nov. 10 and 11, and auditions are starting SOON!  If you want to get your act into this great show, sign up down in the theater hall or the library starting TODAY.  You could win some fabulous prizes plus be part of the best show in town!

Club & Activity Announcement:

Attention all Student Council Officers, Ambassadors and General Council members, we have a General Council meeting TODAY from 2:20-3:00 in the forum--please be there!

The STEM club will have its first meeting Wednesday, October 5th after school in room 1610! If you love math or science, or need CAS and STEM hours, please join us!

FCCLA/Culinary Club is selling "healthy baked goods" this Thursday and Friday, at select times.  Please bring $1 and help support FCCLA.

Sports Announcements:

Our football teams face the George Washington Patriots, come out and show your lion pride and support our JV team playing TODAY at 4pm; George Washington High School.  GO LIONS!!

Your Lion Ultimate mixed team will take on Heritage at Goddard TODAY and Creek at Creek on Thursday:
The Baseball program is having a barbecue picnic TONIGHT at 6:00pm.  The event is free and will be on the baseball field.  All prospective baseball players and their families and baseball friends.  Come meet Coach Bote and his assistants, and current players.

Pink Out Night is tomorrow, Tuesday night with the Girls Volleyball Program! Come to the volleyball games and wear your pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness!
The girls play at 4:30, 5:50, and 6:30 as they host the Evergreen Cougars. Come out in your pink and support a good cause!


Academic Announcements:

Mr. Stedron will once again offer his College Essay Workshops during both lunch periods on Tuesday in The Forum.  Seniors who need to write a personal statement or essay for at least one of your college applications will not want to miss this.  Mr. Stedron provides straightforward direction for attacking this often difficult, intimidating piece of writing.  See you there!

Attention Juniors and Sophomores:  The PSAT test date is Wednesday, October 19th at 7:00 a.m. in the South Gym. Sign-ups have begun and conclude Friday, October 14th.  Sign up in the counseling office and bring $20 (non-refundable). Space is limited so do not wait until the last minute!

Blog Announcements:
Every Student Needs to Visit a College Campus!  Wondering how to spend your time over October break?  Many, many families at LHS and across the country use school breaks to visit college campuses.  And now you can too!  We're offering a fun, informative and free comprehensive college campus visit to the University of Colorado's Denver campus on Thursday, October 20th, 9:30am-3:15pm...including lunch provided at no charge!  LHS classes will not be in session that day.  Students will meet at school at 9:15m in The Forum, take an LPS school bus to the Auraria Campus (downtown Denver), visit CU-Denver's brand new Visitor Center for a top-notch Information Session and then take an in depth tour of the amazing facilities on campus. We plan to return back to school at approximately 3:15pm. Visit the LHS homepage scroller to find a link for online registration. Registration will close October 14th.

For students needing help in Math & Science, Lockheed Martin tutoring will be here Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:30pm in room 1740.  Please use the forum entrance.

Tattered Cover is excited to present the inaugural Colorado Teen Book Con! Saturday, October 15, 2016, 9:00 am - 4:45 pm at Littleton High School in Littleton, CO. Mark your calendars!  This is a full day event with two keynote presentations, a bunch of author panels, and a big author signing party at the end of the day. And food trucks. Of course, food trucks. Books will be for sale throughout the day.  This event, open exclusively to teens, is free, but you must register!
