STUDENT BULLETIN

Special Events:

Don't be left out of the "Hour of Code" on Wednesday, January 27th right after school in the cafeteria any time between 2:30-4:30 pm.   We'll have FREE CHIPOTLE, music, laptops and everything you'll need to give this a try. No experience necessary!  Spaces are limited!  Sign up now online on the LHS homepage scroller.

Get into the Spirit with Winter Dance dress up days!!  Monday is Country Club Day so wear your best bow tie guys and your best summer hat gals; Tuesday is Twin day, find your friend and make a TWIN!  Wednesday is Lifeguard Day so White and Red are the colors to dress up in, Thursday is Pool Accessory Day find someone and get your colorful Lei so you have your Accessory for a Pool Party! Of course, Friday is Class T-shirt Day and the Winter Assembly!  Let’s have some fun dressing up!

The Winter Pep Assembly is next Friday--do you still need to pick up your class t-shirt?  If so, head down to the cafeteria AFTER SCHOOL on Tuesday, or Thursday next week and pick up your shirt.  Again, class t-shirt pick-up is in the CAFETERIA, AFTER SCHOOL on Tuesday or Thursday.

LHS is doing Make-A-Wish events again this year!  Last year we raised over $10,000 for Quinn, our lovely girl from Chatfield high school with terminal cancer.  This year we are kicking off Make-A-Wish events at the Winter Pep Assembly with some fun games and a chance for you to get a teacher, administrator and some students wet!! So, bring your dollars to the Pep Assembly next Friday and you many get the chance to participate and help LHS fund-raise for a special boy or girl! AND, stay tuned for more events in February and March!

Academic Announcements:

If you want to participate in Littleton High School's STEM Certificate Program, visit the STEM webpage on the LHS website to find the online registration form.  Take note that there are two different forms available, one for current Littleton students and one for incoming Freshmen.  Be sure to read all of the information on the STEM website in order to fully understand the requirements of the STEM program.  All current freshmen, sophomores and juniors are welcome to participate.

Attention first generation Seniors!  Looking for a scholarship?  Maybe the Merkle is for you!  You are eligible if you will be a first generation college student, you have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75, and you have financial need.  The award is $2,000 - $10,000, and the deadline is March 18th. Don't miss the opportunity to apply for this scholarship! Come to Post Grad to learn more.

Attention Juniors and Seniors!  A college admissions representative from Colorado Mountain College in will visit LHS on Monday, January 25th at 9:00 a.m. Please sign up on your Naviance account to attend.

Club & Activity Announcements:

Knitters! Let’s work hard on finishing the veteran's blanket.  Please come to our meeting on Monday (1/25) at 2:30 in Ms. Quill's Room.  Do bring your $12.00 towards supplies to reimburse for the yarn bought for this project.  Thank you if you have already paid!

Are you looking for IB CAS or STEM hours? Or do you just want to help out the community? Come to the STEM club meeting in room 1610 on Monday after school for a quick meeting on how you can rack up some hours in an awesome way!

Inspirlions staff will meet Monday after school in room 1745. Bring new material, ideas for promotion and fundraising, and suggestions for our yearbook picture.

Do you like talking to people? Do you like taking pictures and writing? Are you looking for a creative outlet? If so, you might be interested in being a part of the newspaper or yearbook staff next school year. We are currently recruiting for next year's staffs, so fill out an application and take the first step toward helping tell the story of LHS. If you have any questions, see Miss Kron or Mrs. Fisher. Applications are due January 26.

Boys Swim & Team has a pre-season meeting on Monday, January 25th at 6:00 pm in room 1329. Come meet the new coach and all interested boys should attend.

Girls Soccer in the Spring!  Any girls interested in playing soccer for LHS in the Spring should attend a short meeting after school on Thursday, Jan 28 in room 1329. See Coach Banfield if you want to play but cannot attend the meeting.

Parents, mark your calendars for 2 fun upcoming social events you will not want to miss.  First, have you ever wondered what your students are doing during after-prom that is so fun.  Now is your chance to find out.  Your Littleton PTO is hosting a “Pre-After Prom Parent Party.”  Come see what LHS students do in the wee hours when Prom is finished and they continue their fun at Brunswick Zone. LHS PTO is reserving bowling lanes from 6:30-8:30 pm on the evening of Friday, Feb. 12, so come hang out with fellow LHS parents-- bowl, chat, eat….and enjoy a night out.  Tickets are $20, and include bowling and shoe rental.  More information and tickets available at www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0544a9ac22abfc1-preafter. Adults only, please. Look forward to seeing you there!

The fun continues on Monday, March 14th for a fun Billiards night out.  Littleton is home one of Denver’s premiere pool halls, FELT Billiards.  Come join LHS athletes and parents as we celebrate the start of Spring sports season.  Everyone is welcome including students, parents, coaches, siblings from 6:00-9:00pm.  $15 per person covers buffet, unlimited pool, darts and games. Tickets will go on sale Monday in the cafe. Let's think sun and have some fun!

Key Club is collecting gently used girls party dresses sizes 5 to 16 to donate to the Runyon Elementary School father/ daughter dance dress exchange.  If you or your family has any suitable dresses that you no longer need, please bring them to Ms. Anthamatten in the Foreign Language office TODAY or Friday.  You can leave them on her chair!  Thank you.

All interested seniors who want to help plan SWAG should attend the committee's first meeting TODAY at 2:25 pm in the Forum.

Littleton’s Gay-Straight Alliance will meet TODAY in the art Hallway, room 1218, after school.  We have snacks!

For inspiration and to learn why you want to come, watch this super short video that will convince you that everyone needs to know about coding.  An online registration is now open and you can find it on the LHS homepage.  If you have questions, please email Ms. Reimers, STEM Program Coordinator at rreimers@lps.k12.co.us.

STUDENT BULLETIN

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

The Wrestling team had a big week last week.   On Thursday, the team fought hard and defeated both Golden and Evergreen High Schools.   It was a great night.    On Saturday, the varsity went to Evergreen for a tournament.   Aron Pino Valenzuela was challenged for the first time all season, but overcame the competition to win his 5th tournament victory of the year and remain undefeated.   Scott Corwin returned from injury to place 2nd, with Greg Kennedy taking 4th and Poe Di placing 6th.   The JV team wrestled tough at Thunderridge High School where Brandon Gomez and Tri Bui were undefeated in their brackets.

Seniors, we are looking for a few good Lions!  We need a positive, hard-working group of seniors who are ready to plan an outstanding senior year-end event, otherwise known as SWAG.  This committee will work with faculty and administration to plan and host an event that will be safe, inclusive, and FUN!  All interested seniors should attend the committee's first meeting on Thursday at 2:25 pm in the Forum.
