Clubs and Activities:

Our speech and debate team traveled to George Washington High School over the weekend.  We had a successful tournament, a number of students received excellent and outstanding mentions, but we were lead the way by Julia Valdez, who placed second in Poetry, Sam Burke, who placed 6th in Poetry and 3rd in Program Oral Interp, and Kelly Steinberg, who placed 3rd in Drama and 2nd in Humor.  Great job, team.

There is a PEAS club meeting today (Tuesday the 17th) after school in  the greenhouse.

The Role Playing Club will be meeting in Room 1606 every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 - 3:30.  This is a great opportunity to get your Magic on"

FCCLA/Culinary Club will have the first meeting of the new year on Thursday, January 19th in the Culinary room.  Anyone is welcome to join!

Important Announcements:

Time is running out to purchase a yearbook!  The deadline to pre-order a yearbook is Friday, January 27!  We will have a limited number of books for sale at the end of the year but they are on a first-come, first served basis and we may run out.  If you want to guarantee that you get a yearbook, it is highly recommended that your pre-order by January 27.

If you took a snowflake off the Giving Snowman and have not turned your gift into Ms. Prestel's office; please do so as soon as you can! Thanks

Academics:

Seniors: On January 19 we will hold planning meeting to discuss your end-of-year activities and SWAG.  All seniors are invited to attend.  We will meet from 2:25-3:00 in the forum on January 19.  See Mr. Amonson if you cannot attend and have ideas.

Attention students needing help with Math or Science - Lockheed Martin Tutoring will resume next week.  Lockheed Martin Engineers come every Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30pm to tutor our students.  This is a free and amazing service they provide.  Tutoring is in room 1740, please use the Forum entrance.

Sports:

Attention Girls Soccer Players!!
Anyone wishing to play soccer for LHS in the spring should attend a meeting at 2.20pm on Thursday 1.19 in room 1329.You will receive information on registration, training and tryouts.Please see coach Banfield if you cannot attend.

STEM Presents the Third Annual "Hour of Code" January 25th
You're going to look like you have magical powers when you learn to code!  Gabe Newell of Valve Software.Littleton High School's STEM Certificate Program will host our third annual "Hour of Code" event Wednesday, January 25th right after school in the LHS cafeteria any time between 2:30-4:30pm.  All LPS students and prospective LPS students,  staff and family members are welcome to join us for a chance to prove to yourself that YOU, yes YOU can write a genuine piece of computer code in about an hour.Bring your laptop or Chromebook and headphones...We'll have food, music, laptops if you need to borrow one and everything you'll need to give this a try.
