STUDENT BULLETIN

Student Congratulations and Recognition:

The Varsity girls soccer team won a thrilling game on Saturday beating Ponderosa 3-2. Sarah Payson scored two and assisted one. Katie Puchino scored one and the other assists were from Sarah Gray and Anna Newby. Lily Jensen made several spectacular saves in goal. Congratulations ladies!

Academics:

Juniors!  If you have not had your Junior meeting in the Post Grad Center yet this semester, please stop by as soon as possible to schedule it.  You will get much information that you will need at the very beginning of Senior year.  Don't delay!

Students taking an AP exam in May must attend a pre-bubbling session on either Today, April 17th or Tomorrow April 18th before school, after school or during lunch in the Forum. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Zerr in the Counseling Office.

Clubs and Activities:

There will be a meeting for a Summer 2018 Nepal Service and Study Trip in the Forum on Wednesday, April 26th at 2:30 pm. All 9th-11th grade students who are interested should attend or see Mr. Gordon in the Social Studies Department for additional information. Additionally, trip information is available on the Model UN Club Bulletin Board outside the Library entrance.

Are you good at making things up on the fly? Are you typically known as the class clown? Then the LHS Theatre Department needs your help. Heritage has officially challenged us to a district Improv Competition. If you would like to have the chance to play some games, entertain some people, and defeat our rival, then come sign up to audition for "The Totally Official and Appropriately Named Improv Competition". Auditions will be held Tuesday after school from 2:30 to 4, and the sign-up sheet will be posted right outside the theatre classroom.

Texting and driving takes your eyes of the road for an average of 5 seconds.  At 55 miles per hour, that's like driving the length of a football field completely blind!  Join Key Club outside the main entrance tomorrow and pledge to X the text!
Car crashes are the number 1 cause of death for 11-27 year olds in the United States.  Texting while driving can increase your risk of crashing by 23 times.

IB Senior Theatre Company invite you to come see their final performance at LHS. You Can't Take It With You,  plays Thursday 20 April and Friday 21 April at 7pm on the Mane Stage. First produced in 1936 this show has been making people laugh for over 80 years. The show was entirely designed, directed, built and performed by Theaco 17. Tickets are only $5, what a bargain! Get tickets online or at the box office during both lunches Monday, Tuesday and Weds.  THANKS! See you next week.

Student Council wants YOU!   If you are interested in becoming part of the biggest and most fun club here at LHS, pick up a packet in the main office or with Ms. Prestel in room 2618.

Attention all Student Council officers, ambassadors and general council members, we have a General Council meeting Today April 17th in the forum starting at 2:20.  We are kicking off Urban Peak Week next week, so please be at the meeting to make sure you know what is going on! WE'll have ice cream too!!!

April 17th is Urban Peak Week here at LHS.  Some of you might remember the last two years where we had fundraising events for the Make a Wish foundation; this year we have changed our community fundraising organization to Urban Peak.  Urban Peak is a teenage shelter which helps homeless teens or teens who are recovering from addiction get back on their feet.  They provide beds, meals, clothing, hygiene items and job training.  Your LHS Student Council is sponsoring tons of events next week to help this organization out!  We hope you will want to help some kids your own age who have fallen on hard times by participating in some of our events.  Check out the orange or gold sheets given to you in S.S.

On Tuesday the 18th,  bring 2 bucks to the lobby or cafeteria and get a special treat-- ROOT BEER FLOATS! They are being sold to help Urban Peak Week!  Yum!!!

Friday, April 21st is the Day of Silence. Pledge $1 to take a vow of silence to support the LGBTQ community. Tables will be set up in the front lobby and during lunches all week, and all proceeds will be donated to GLSEN.

Juniors and Seniors you’ve received your After Prom invitations to the Family Sports Center! Ticket sales will be in the cafeteria during A and B lunch. Monday, April 24th to Friday, April 28th. Tickets are $15 and you can pay with cash or check.

Sports:

What if there was a sport where you weren't restricted by the size of the playing field? How about a fun, healthy sport requiring very little special equipment? What about one that encourages you to run across grassy fields, along trail and at times, through water? Come see how cool Cross Country can be during our informational pre-season meeting on Thursday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Forum. Students and their parents are invited to meet the coaches, learn about summer running, get information about our summer running camp and hear about the season. Athletes of all abilities are welcome and little or no running experience is required for this no-cut sport. Hope to see you there!
