Clubs and Activities:

DSST's open ultimate team sorta showed up and LHS beat them soundly. Official score was 13-3. Nice work, guys. Lion Ultimate's final games of the regular season are scheduled for next Thurs. at 5:15 pm at LHS! hope to see you there!!

Come play Giant JENGA! in the Cafeteria during A & B lunches this week only!   IT's a dollar a person, and supports our TSA National qualifiers.  Thanks for your support, see you there.

Today for Urban Peak Week, come to the cafe B lunch and help tape Student Body President Andy Bredar to the wall!!! A strip of tape is only $1....the more tape used the longer he will stay on the wall and more money we will give to Urban Peak!

 Do you have clothes at home that you hardly ever wear anymore?  Or maybe some that don’t fit you anymore and are still in good shape?  If so, Student Council would LOVE for you to donate those to Urban Peak!  Teens at Urban Peak need nice clothes to go on job interviews or to wear to a job they have obtained; please bring your clothes to school up until April 28th and drop them in the bins in the cafeteria and by the attendance office. Thanks!

Today, April 21st is the Day of Silence. Pledge $1 to take a vow of silence to support the LGBTQ community. Tables will be set up in the front lobby and during lunches all week, and all proceeds will be donated to GLSEN.

Prom is almost here, so it’s time to buy your tickets!! Bring your money starting Mon 24th, only $40 for all LHS non-seniors or any out of school guest. Seniors get in for free, just bring your ID. Tickets will be sold at the bookkeepers all week during lunch and after school. And, don’t forget to fill out a guest form if needed and have it turned in by the 27th.

If you are planning on playing football for the 2017 season or interested, there is a parent/player meeting on Tuesday May 2nd.  Meet the coaches, learn about the program, get involved by volunteering, and get information about the season along with coming schedule of key dates. What if there was a sport where you weren't restricted by the size of the playing field? How about a fun, healthy sport requiring very little special equipment? Come see how cool Cross Country can be during our informational pre-season meeting on Thursday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Forum. Students and their parents are invited to meet the coaches.

Juniors!  If you have not had your Junior meeting in the Post Grad Center yet this semester, please stop by as soon as possible to schedule it.  You will get much information that you will need at the very beginning of Senior year.  Don't delay!

Congratulations Baseball for knocking off another top 10 team last night with an 11-6 victory over Green Mountain. Keep up the great work.
JV baseball was victorious over Green Mountain as well. Congratulations.

April 17th is Urban Peak Week here at LHS.  Urban Peak is a teenage shelter which helps homeless teens or teens who are recovering from addiction get back on their feet. Your LHS Student Council is sponsoring tons of events next week to help this organization out!

Lip Sync is BACK! During lunches TODAY find your favorite song, pay a buck and show off your best lip syncing talent! All proceeds go to Urban Peak.

Reminder. Ticket sales for After Prom will be in the cafeteria during A and B lunch. Monday April 24th to Friday April 28th. Tickets are $15 and you can pay with cash or check. Great news! There are changing rooms at the Family Sports Centers. We will take care of your Prom clothes while you have fun and give them to you when you leave.

Seniors, if you signed up to be a graduation speaker, make sure you have your speech printed off with an extra copy for your audition today or tomorrow. Those auditions are in Mr. Wentz's room 1606, starting at 2:30.  Please see Mrs. Shew or Mr. Wentz if you have any questions.

April 17th is Urban Peak Week here at LHS.  Urban Peak is a teenage shelter which helps homeless teens or teens who are recovering from addiction get back on their feet. Your LHS Student Council is sponsoring tons of events next week to help this organization out!

Oh what fun there is to have during After Prom-Laser-tag, interactive games,  ice skating, broom-ball, bumper cars, and climbing wall! Plus, awesome raffle prizes!

Student Congratulations and Recognition:

Congratulations Baseball. The team rallied back from an 8-2 deficit in the 5th inning to defeat Golden 13-9. Amazing comeback victory

Congratulations to the JV girls soccer team for their 2-1 win over Evergreen yesterday. Goals from Izzy Colkitt and Lauren Law along with strong goalkeeping from Sadie Haddock powered the win.

Heritage has officially challenged us to a district Improv Competition. Auditions will be held today after school from 2:30 to 4, and the sign-up sheet will be posted right outside the theatre classroom.

 Join Key Club outside the main entrance today and pledge to X the text!
Texting while driving can be as dangerous as driving drunk.  Experts calculate that texting while driving is roughly equivalent to driving after 4 beers!

Student Congratulations and Recognition:

The Varsity girls soccer team won a thrilling game on Saturday beating Ponderosa 3-2. Sarah Payson scored two and assisted one. Katie Puchino scored one and the other assists were from Sarah Gray and Anna Newby. Lily Jensen made several spectacular saves in goal. Congratulations ladies!

Academics:

Students taking an AP exam in May must attend a pre-bubbling session on either Today, April 17th or Tomorrow April 18th before school, after school or during lunch in the Forum. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Zerr in the Counseling Office.

There will be a meeting for a Summer 2018 Nepal Service and Study Trip in the Forum on Wednesday, April 26th at 2:30 pm. All 9th-11th grade students who are interested should attend or see Mr. Gordon in the Social Studies Department for additional information. Additionally, trip information is available on the Model UN Club Bulletin Board outside the Library entrance.

Texting and driving takes your eyes of the road for an average of 5 seconds.  At 55 miles per hour, that's like driving the length of a football field completely blind!  Join Key Club outside the main entrance tomorrow and pledge to X the text!
Car crashes are the number 1 cause of death for 11-27 year olds in the United States.  Texting while driving can increase your risk of crashing by 23 times.

IB Senior Theatre Company invite you to come see their final performance at LHS. You Can't Take It With You,  plays Thursday 20 April and Friday 21 April at 7pm on the Mane Stage. First produced in 1936 this show has been making people laugh for over 80 years.The show was entirely designed, directed, built and performed by Theaco 17. Tickets are only $5, what a bargain! Attention all Student Council officers, ambassadors and general council members, we have a General Council meeting Today April 17th in the forum starting at 2:20.  We are kicking off Urban Peak Week next week, so please be at the meeting to make sure you know what is going on! WE'll have ice cream too!!!

April 17th is Urban Peak Week here at LHS.  Some of you might remember the last two years where we had fundraising events for the Make a Wish foundation; this year we have changed our community fundraising organization to Urban Peak.  Urban Peak is a teenage shelter which helps homeless teens or teens who are recovering from addiction get back on their feet.  They provide beds, meals, clothing, hygiene items and job training.  Your LHS Student Council is sponsoring tons of events next week to help this organization out!  We hope you will want to help some kids your own age who have fallen on hard times by participating in some of our events.  Check out the orange or gold sheets given to you in S.S.

On Tuesday the 18th,  bring 2 bucks to the lobby or cafeteria and get a special treat-- ROOT BEER FLOATS! They are being sold to help Urban Peak Week!  Yum!!!

What about one that encourages you to run across grassy fields, along trail and at times, through water? Come see how cool Cross Country can be during our informational pre-season meeting on Thursday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Forum. Students and their parents are invited to meet the coaches, learn about summer running, get information about our summer running camp and hear about the season. Athletes of all abilities are welcome and little or no running experience is required for this no-cut sport. Hope to see you there!
