In March, we begin celebrating Women’s History Month, a time to recognize the powerful contributions women have made to American history, culture, science, government, sports, and social change. Throughout this month, we will spotlight women from diverse backgrounds who broke barriers and changed our world. As you listen each day, think about how their courage, creativity, and leadership can inspire your own future. Let’s celebrate the women who helped shape the America we know today!
Shirley Chisholm was the first Black woman elected to the United States Congress. In 1972, she became the first Black woman to run for president. She called herself “unbought and unbossed.” Her leadership opened doors for women in politics across the country.

Sources of Strength Mental Health Tip for the Weekend: The weekend is a great time to try coping skills. Here is another skill that you can practice this weekend. If you are feeling anxious, try the 5-4-3-2-1 method. This grounding technique is a sensory-based mindfulness exercise that helps reduce anxiety and stress by reconnecting you to the present moment. You identify 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, and 1 you can taste. Try it out this weekend so you can use it when you need it. Reach out to a counselor if you would like more tips or if you need help. Have a great weekend, Littleton Lions!
