STUDENT BULLETIN:

“College Information Night" will take place next Tuesday, January 29th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors, and their families, are strongly encouraged to attend this information-packed evening. We'll have experts presenting at a wide variety of different 30-minute breakout sessions including:

- Building Your College List
- College Entrance Exams
- Financial Aid 101
- Completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
- College Funding Strategies and Hacks
- Writing Your College Essay

We encourage both parents and students to attend so that you can split up and attend as many different short breakout sessions as possible. And, we will raffle off a variety of door prizes including Chipotle and Starbucks gift cards and LHS spiritwear. All students can enter the drawing at the event!

CLUB & ACTIVITY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Sources of Strength Peer Leaders, please plan to attend one of two campaign-planning meetings. We will meet in Room 1219 on Monday, January 28th, from 3:30 - 4:30. If you cannot be there, please mark your calendar for Thursday, February 7th, at 7:30 am.

Attention, Student Council members, there is a General Council meeting on Tuesday, January 29th, at 7:45 am. We will be taking our yearbook photos! Wear an LHS t-shirt.

The first meeting for STAR Club, Students Taking Active Roles, will be next Wednesday the 30th from 3:45 - 4:45 pm. Any LHS student is invited to participate, and there is no fee! Students who would like to sign-up can do so at the Attendance Office.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Congratulations to the Littleton Wrestling team for their dominating win over Riverdale Ridge 42 to 18 yesterday! Additionally, congratulations to Paul Ford who won 2 out of 2 matches, one of which was a come-from-behind victory in the last period! Come support the Littleton Wrestling team in their last home dual versus Standley Lake next Thursday the 31st at 6:00 pm.

Come out to cheer on your LPS Ice Hockey team today as they play Mullen at the Edge Ice Arena at 8:30! Then, tomorrow, cheer them on as they play Denver East on their home ice at South Suburban at 6:30! Go, Lions!

Next Wednesday night will be Spirit Night for Girls Basketball! Our Girls Basketball team will take on cross-town rival Evergreen in a tough league match. We want everyone to wear purple for a “Purple Explosion” Spirit Night! There will be games and prizes at halftime and some LHS swag to win! Wear purple, and help cheer our girls to a victory! Game time is 7:30!

The LHS Boys Lacrosse spring season kick-off parent/player meeting is January 31st at 7:00 pm in the LHS forum. Please save the date on your calendar and plan to attend. We will review the upcoming spring season, discuss uniform information, have spirit wear available to order and purchase, and much more. Players with no previous lacrosse experience, but those who would like to learn about the team, are encouraged to attend. The LHS Lacrosse team has equipment for new players to use if they want to give the sport a try.

The After Prom Planning Meeting will be held Thursday, January 31st, at 5:30 pm in the LHS Forum. We will be discussing all the event details (it's at LHS this year!) plus asking for volunteers to help with various sub-committees, etc. We need everyone's support to make this a fabulous night for our teenagers!

All students are invited to our first ACTS Fair today between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. We will have representatives from the Area Career & Technical School programs like Auto Tech, Cosmetology, Early Childhood Education, Teacher Cadet, Health Sciences, and ProStart Culinary here in the front lobby. Stop by to learn more about taking these classes. You may be able to earn both high school and college credit!

Congratulations to LHS Senior Colin McCormick on winning the John Lynch Star of the Month Award! This award is presented to student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding achievements in academics, athletics and community service. Colin has participated in Cross Country and Track since his freshman year. He most recently represented Littleton as a member of the squads competing in our Regional and State Cross Country meets. He is in IB, National Honor Society, and tutors fellow LHS students in math. He also volunteers with his church and at Adam’s Camp. Well deserved, Colin!

Students, are you interested in learning about in-demand careers and potential internships in the local construction community? If so, sign up to come to a lunch-and-learn meeting tomorrow during A lunch. See Mrs. Bartlett in the library to sign up. Lunch will be provided.

Last Friday and Saturday, our speech and debate team competed at the Colorado Cup tournament at Mullen High School. This was a national level tournament with teams from all over the country, and our students performed well! Leading the way for the Lions was Senior Julia Valdez, earning her 4th consecutive 1st place trophy in Poetry. Also placing were Senior Kait Schultz who took 7th in drama, Senior Ben Greenly and Grace Greenly who took 7th in Duo, Maddie Engeman who took 7th in Informative Speaking, Natalie Parkhurst who took 6th in Humor, Senior Hannah Pederson who took 5th in LD Debate, and Rudi Cayou who took 7th in Poetry. Outstanding tournament, Littleton!

Key Club will be meeting tomorrow at 7:50 am in room 2620. We will be starting our Kits for Kids Project. All are welcome!

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Congratulations to our Girls JV Basketball team who stayed unbeaten in conference play on Monday with an exciting win over Green Mountain. Junior McKenzie Schwartz led our Lions with 11 points, followed by junior Gaia Williams with 7. Sophomore Eva DeThomas also grabbed 7 steals. Way to go, ladies!

Your LPS Hockey team fought a hard battle to tie the #4 seed Monarch in overtime last weekend. Great job, Lions! Come out to cheer them on this weekend as they play Mullen at the Edge Ice Arena on Friday night at 8:30 and Denver East on our home ice at South Suburban on Saturday night at 6:30. Good luck, team!

Your Unified Basketballers eclipsed the century mark last night but came up just short against a talented Englewood team 108-100. Max Warren had 16 points, Sammie Ostlee was just behind with 14 points, and Scott Bourg had an outstanding game with 16 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Come and support your Lions at home next Monday at 7:00 pm. Go, Lions!

Attention, Sophomores who are in Chemistry AND Spanish or French 2 or higher, you are invited to an IB pizza lunch today in Room 1329. Come get a free lunch and learn more about IB. Current IB students will be there, talking about their experiences.

Littleton High School is partnering with the United States Army to pilot a STAR Club. Students Taking Active Roles was created to leverage the expertise and resources of local US Army Soldiers to help students develop skills that will enable and encourage them to take active roles in their own life, within their families, their school and community, with the ultimate goal of graduating high school and creating enriching postsecondary options. Topics of discussion include time management, study skills, leadership, conflict resolution, team building, physical fitness and many more.

The STAR Club will meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 3:45 - 4:45 pm, beginning next Wednesday the 30th. The sponsor for this club is Jon Mathews, LHS Campus Supervisor. Any LHS student is invited to participate. There is no fee to participate. Students who would like to participate can sign up in the attendance office.
