Student Recognition & Congratulations:

Congratulations to the Littleton Cheers for placing first in their division at the NCA Regional Championship this past Saturday! Please come support the Cheers at their League competition tomorrow at Legend High School in Parker. They perform at 6:30 pm. Spectator admission is only $5. We hope to see you there!

Mr. Stedron and Ms. Solis would like to congratulate the entire Speech and Debate team for surviving the 15-hour Black and Red Rumble Tournament on Saturday at Pomona High School. Also, special congratulations go out to Tres Pittman and Daniel Thomas for placing 1st overall in CX Debate, Joyce Jowers for placing 2nd overall in Original Oratory, Ben Fisk for placing 3rd overall in Humor Interpretation, Hanna Le for placing 4th overall in Original Oratory, and Leslie Stutheit for placing 8th overall in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Congratulations to the following students who were selected to the Southwest American Choral Directors Association Regional Honor Choirs: Rosie Castle, Jayvon Rollerson, Amelia Jacobs, T.R. Mitchell, Ella Kilroy and Nick Luangphitak (Loo Ahng Fee Tahk). They will be headed to Dallas, Texas, in March. This is the largest number of LHS students ever selected to these honor choirs.

Congratulations to Megan Irvine who has been selected to the 2012 Colorado All State Jazz Choir! Littleton High School is the only school to be represented in all 13 Colorado All State Jazz Choirs.

Congratulations to the members of Manwich who placed 2nd in the high school division of the Mile High Vocal Jam
A Cappella competition on Saturday.

Academic Announcements:


Swim Waiver: All LPS students are welcome to sign-up for the swim waiver test held at LHS on either Wed., Nov. 9 or Thurs. Nov. 10 at 2:30 pm sharp in the LHS pool. Sign-up sheet is in the Counseling Office and you must sign-up in order to participate.

Reminder for 2nd Semester Schedule Adjustment: November 28-Dec 2nd: SENIORS; Dec. 5th: JUNIORS; Dec. 6th: SOPHOMORES; Dec. 7th: FRESHMAN

Attention Seniors: Colorado Mountain College will visit today at 10:00 in the Post Grad Center. University of Wyoming and Miami University will visit on Thursday. Be sure to sign up to attend these meetings on your Naviance homepage.

Club Announcements:

Rock 'n Roll club meets this Thursday at 2:20 in room 112. This week we will take on the music of Led Zeppelin! Come on and get your heavy metal groove on.

FBLA Members -- we have a meeting this Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 2:20 pm in room 124. We will be discussing competitive events for our upcoming district competition.

Sports Announcements:

All players interested in Unified Basketball please come to an informational meeting today at 2:30 room 105.

A reminder that the boys soccer banquet is tonight at 6pm in the cafeteria. There is no cost for the players and their families, so bring everyone along to celebrate a great season!

Girls basketball Preseason camp continues today from 3:15-6:00 in the weight room and the South gym. All girls who plan to try out are strongly encouraged to attend. This is your chance to sharpen your skills and get in shape for this Friday’s tryouts.

Special Events:

Hey Lion’s - Lion’s Follies will be this Friday and Saturday night at 7:00pm. Tickets are $5.00 and available at Lunches in the CafĂ© and after school at the box office. Qdoba is offering flyers that enable the LHS Student buyer to get a free drink with an entre purchase and $1 of their purchase will be given to Student Council for Prom—you must bring the flyer into Qdoba to get the deal. Your ticket stub is worth a discount at Yogo Mojo. Saturday’s show will have a drawing for an iPod nano. The PTO Dessert Bar will open at 5:30pm both nights in the LHS lobby and will sell baked goods through intermission. All Dessert Bar proceeds go to support After Prom expenses. Reason #4 why you should attend the 2011 Lion’s Follies: You’ll feel like you are getting straight A’s for at least once in your school career.

Veteran’s Day spotlight: The Coast Guard is both a law enforcement and a military unit. It was established on August 4, 1790, when congress authorized the building of multiple vessels to enforce trade law and prevent smuggling. The Coast Guard is one of the five armed military units. It protects the international water borders, prevents smuggling, does search and rescue, and protects the coastal environments. The motto for the U.S. Coast Guard is Semper Paratus, meaning "Always Ready." The Coast Guard currently has 41,873 active duty personnel. Here to lead us today in the Pledge of Allegiance is Mr. Mickey Wentz who served in the Coast Guard for 8 years.
