Student Recognition & Congratulations:

Please join me in congratulating senior Molly Bartlett who earned three 1st place ribbons for her incredible photography images as well as an overall 1st place in the recent Career & Technical Education (CTE) State of Colorado Commercial Photography contest. Her images are simply breath taking and she wrote a distinguished essay paper.  Nice job, Molly!

Attention all Students - Lockheed Martin Tutoring will be here on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00p-7:30p in room 107 to help you prepare for your final exams.  Please use the forum entrance.

Spring Fling is "Lion in the Grass!" that is our theme for this year's Spring Fling end of the year PARTY for the ENTIRE school!  Student Council invites you to head down to the grass soccer fields today right after the Senior Assembly--we will have FREE food and drinks, plus a couple of bouncy castles, Frisbee, volleyball, soccer, football and tons and tons of fun!  Take all your books and backpacks with you, because the school will be locked soon after we leave the gym.  We'll see you there.

 If you still haven't received your yearbook, stop by the bookkeeper’s office and pick it up. Remember all fees and fines must be paid before you can pick up your yearbook. There are still a few books for sale and the cost is $60. Books are available on a first come, first serve basis. See Mrs. Smith with questions.

Operation Smoke Signal is a large-scale disaster training drill that will take place at the Metro Fire Training Academy (2301 W Chenango Street, Littleton), on Saturday, May 19, 2012. The drill will be facilitated by O.M.E.G.A., a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to support local, state and federal agencies with disaster preparedness and disaster response.



Members of the community, including LPS students, are invited to volunteer as role players who are victims of a massive tornado. The disaster drill's focal point is to enhance the skill sets of local emergency response volunteers.  If you are interested in participating, you can go online to  www.OMEGAresponders.org for additional information

Academic Announcements:

Would you like to be a mentor to incoming freshmen?  Do you like making a difference here at LHS?  If so, come to the main office and pick up an Advisement Leader application and sign up to become a LHS Advisement Leader for next year.  Besides working with the incoming freshmen and teacher coordinators, you will also earn 2 credit hours of graduation credit.  We are looking for 50-60 dedicated students who will be Juniors or Seniors next year.  Please turn the filled out applications back into the box into the main office by Friday, May 11th.  See Ms Prestel if you have any questions.

Class meetings and elections will be held today during an assembly schedule in the morning.  Students please go to the following locations:  freshmen to the theater, sophomores to the north gym, juniors to the south gym and seniors to the cafeteria.  Seniors this is an especially important meeting for you because you will receive some graduation information as well as information about your last day on the 11th--PLEASE ATTEND!

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the varsity girls tennis team competed in an eight team regional tournament at Cherry Creek High School.  Only the top two teams at each position earn the right to advance to the state tournament at the Gates Tennis Center later this week.  We are proud to announce that LHS finished second in the region behind Cherry Creek but ahead of Chaparral, Cherokee Trail, Smoky Hill to name the closest competitors.  We are also proud to announce that Katie Pearson qualified for state at 3 singles, Quin Bowman and Lucia Martinez qualified at 1 Doubles, and Rachel Pearson and Destini Marshall qualified at 4 Doubles.  Our 2 Doubles team of Terrell Blei and Lauren Bredar lost a heartbreaking match to Chaparral to qualify for state--they finished third in the region.  Our 3 Doubles team of Briana Mosby and Sydney Harris also lost a nail biter to Cherokee Trail.  Junai Testa, our 1 singles player, finished fourth and Sara Leovic, our 2 singles player, finished third.  Coach Gonzalez, Coach Zolla, and Coach Brooks are filled with pride for what the tennis team has accomplished this year.  Now on to state on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday!

Students taking an AP test you should receive a very important 2012 AP Test Day Instructions sheet from your AP teachers.  A complete schedule of tests along with room numbers and reminders of what you need to bring to your tests is included.  This information is also available on the Counseling tab on the LHS website.  Please see Mrs. Zerr in the Counseling Office with any questions.
