Student Recognition & Congratulations:


Congratulations to the LHS Lady Lionfish on their performance at the Continental A-League Meet held last Friday and Saturday.  Special Congratulations to Maddie Montgomery who qualified for State in the 200 free.  Freshman Claire Tronrud also narrowly missed qualifying for State in both the 200 free and the 100 breaststroke by tenths of a second, as did Claire Martin in the 100 Free.  Others placing in the top 18 were:

•    200 Medley Relay - Hailey Egelhoff, Claire Tronrud, Claire Martin, Morgan Zueger  11th
•    200 Free - Maddie Montgomery  7th; Claire Tronrud  8th
•    Diving - Caitlin Durston  10th; Sarrelle Schultheis  18th

•    200 Free Relay - Claire Tronrud, Maddie Montgomery, Morgan Zueger, Claire Martin  10th
•    100 Breast - Claire Tronrud  11th; Claire Martin  14th
•    400 Free Relay - Abbey Vankooten, Maddie Montgomery, Hailey Egelhoff, Megan Sanders  8th

The LHS Speech and Debate team had a great showing at the Blazing Sun tournament on Saturday. Special congratulations to Emily Cassio, who finished third overall in Lincoln Douglas debate out of more than 50 debaters. We would also like to recognize Maddie Chandler, who advanced to quarterfinals in the Lincoln-Douglas debate as one of the top 8 debaters at the tournament. The following team members earned Superior recognition at the tournament:  The teams of Andy Wilcoxen and Will Brown, and Hannah Poe and Nick Ditter in Public Forum Debate, Stephanie Kern-Allely in Poetry, and the team of Ryan Famiglietti and Kelly Dinneen in Policy Debate.  Please wish our team good luck this Saturday at the DPS Invitational Debate tournament.

On Friday night in our gym both the C team and varsity defeated Rock Canyon with JV coming up a little short.  The C team and varsity started quickly and held on for the victory.  Thank you to all the loud fans who cheered us on to victory. We take on Douglas County tomorrow night at home.

Academic Announcements:

IB-track SOPHOMORES: There is a MANDATORY meeting about the IB DECISION this Thursday, February 7, during A and B lunches in the Forum. Whether you're staying in IB next year, are taking a different academic path, or are unsure, this meeting is for you. Bring your lunch and be prompt. Questions: Ms. Anderson or Mrs. Stulock in the counseling suite.

AP-students who are enrolled in AP classes, Mrs. Zerr and Mrs. Gobble will be visiting your classrooms this week to review the process for registering and paying for your AP exams.  Actual payment and registration will begin on February 11 in the Counseling Office. 

Club Announcements:

Cupid's sting is that much greater when it's a PAPER cut. Buy a Cupid's Classified to tell your love how you feel. On sale at lunch outside the cafe.

GSA and the Equity Conference planners will be meeting today after school in the art room.  Our yearbook photo will be taken at 2:20...don't miss it!

ATTENTION all Student Council officers, Ambassadors and General Council members, we have a General Council meeting today.  Please wear your Student Council shirts because Yearbook will be there to take our picture!  We are also going to be getting our Val-O-Grams to start selling and much, much more!  See you in the forum at 2:20 sharp!!

The Peace Jam Club will meet in room 140 tomorrow at 2:25 for the club yearbook photo and will hold our weekly meeting after the photo.

Hey senior girls!  There will be a SWAG meeting tomorrow at 2:30 in the Forum.  Bring spring T-shirt ideas, thoughts on which group you want to be in and which boys you want to SWAG!!  See Kacee Medved, Annie Brewster, or Allie Horvat with any questions.

FBLA members we have a meeting this Thursday, February 7th at 2:20 pm in room 124.  We are two weeks out from our district conference and FBLA week is next week!  Please plan on joining us for some quick updates.  See you then!

HIP HOP will meet in the Lobby on Thursday for Yearbook pictures promptly at 2:30.  After pictures, we will then go to the Forum for our regular meeting.

Attention Spring Athletes:  Registration Packets are due NO LATER than Thursday, February 21, 2013. Please see Mrs. Gray in the athletic department if you have any questions.

Special Events:

Legally Blonde the Musical opens at the end of this month on the LHS Mane Stage. Tickets are available at the box office during A and B lunches,6th period and after school. $7.00 for students and $10.00 for adults, the show opens Thursday February 28th at 7pm! Wear pink when you purchase your ticket and receive $1 off each ticket purchased!

Attention all students!!  Do you feel like you can’t talk to an adult in the building when you have something you need to get off your chest? Well, your fellow peer counselors will be leading group discussions every Monday after school from 2:15-3:30 in the counseling office starting this Monday, February 4th! The first discussion will be an open-floor allowing students to talk about anything and everything. We hope to see you there!  Please see Mrs. Zerr in the counseling office if you have any questions.
