Student Recognition & Congratulations:


Congratulations to the Lion Pride Football team for their win over George Washington HS Saturday afternoon 47-13.  Way to go LIONS!!

Congratulations to the Boys Tennis team for a fabulous weekend. The JV beat Columbine in a tight match, 6-5. The Varsity traveled to Grand Junction for the Western Slope Invitational and faced several of the top teams in the state.  In the consolation round, Nathan Schultz and Carver Payne took 4th places and Cullen MacDowell and Jake Anderson captured a 2nd place.  In the championship bracket, Michael Craig, Ben Shamon and Thinh Dinh took 4th place, but the LHS stars of the tourney were Larkin Burbage and Seth Goldstein who barely lost to Denver East in a tense thriller and finished in 3rd place.

Academic Announcements:

Attention Seniors!  The Boettcher Scholarship is one of the most prestigious and generous college scholarships that a student graduating from a Colorado High School can receive. Recipients of this award receive full tuition, fees, books and a living stipend for all four years of an undergraduate degree earned at any accredited college/university in the state of Colorado. The application process is rigorous and the selection process is extremely competitive. The application deadline is Friday, October 4th. Club Announcements:

Fellowship of Christian Athletes – come please come to our meeting today in room 102 at 2:20.  Everyone is welcome.

The first ping pong club meeting of the year will be this Tuesday at 2:30 in the cafeteria. Hope to see you there!

The World Club will meet Tuesday at 2:20pm in Room 206.  See you there!

Are you interested in helping the community and making new friends? Come to room 211 at 2.20 on Thursday, September 12th for our first Key Club meeting! Everyone is welcome!  We will be discussing community service activities for the year and there will be ice cream!

Homecoming is right around the corner and we have a bunch of FUN events for all you LHS LIONS to participate in--starting with a Class Dodge Ball Tournament!  This will take place on Tuesday Sept. 17th in the north gym and will pit ONE TEAM from each class against each other to find out who will be the greatest Dodge Ball class in the school!  Sign up on your class bulletin boards in the Language Arts hallway and be ready to give it your best next Tuesday! 
 
HOMECOMING IS NEXT WEEK--and that means Girls Powder Puff and Guys Volleyball!!  Girls, get your class together and sign up for this fun filled event; it will take place on Wed. Sept. 18th down on the grass soccer fields starting at 2:45 sharp.  Only ONE team per class.  Guys, you play on Thursday Sept. 19th starting at 2:30 in the north gym and you can have as many teams from your class as you can get together!!  Both guys and girls, sign up on your class bulletin boards located in the Language Arts hallway.  See you next week!!

Sport Announcements:

Pre-season weight training meets again today in the weight room from 2:30 - 4:00 pm.  Weight training is open to all levels of boy’s basketball.  Get in shape for the winter season.

Special Events:

LHS ENCORE! will host a meet & greet BBQ before the Collage Concert on Wednesday, Sept 11, at 5:00pm in the front parking lot. Everyone is welcome and proceeds benefit LHS Performing Arts.  Please see Mr. Farrell for tickets. The FREE Collage Concert follows the BBQ, at 7pm, in the LHS Theatre.

Homecoming Dance Guest forms are available in Student Services. They are due back September 19, 2013. The Homecoming dance will be held Saturday, September 21st.

Other Announcements:


Just a reminder that if you haven't purchased a parking permit, now is the time to do so.  Campus security will start issuing tickets if you don't have a permit. The bookkeeper will be open every day, all day, this week.

Students, if you are interested in serving on our School Accountability Committee, we will be choosing one student by lottery.  Please complete a nomination form for yourself in the main office by the end of today.  We will draw one name tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept 10th.  Meeting times are on that nomination form; generally we meet the third Wednesday of the month after school. Our next meeting is September 18th.

Welcome to LHS PTO 2013-2014:  Our first PTO meeting is Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the LHS Administrative Conference Room, 199 E. Hey, Students, have you ever wanted to attend a Colorado Rapids game with all your friends and family?  Well now is your chance.  Join your fellow classmates and teachers from Littleton HS on Saturday, Sept 14th at 7 p.m. for LPS Community Night as the Colorado Rapids take on FC Dallas!  Tickets are $20 each ($35 regular price).  For every ticket purchased, our PTO gets $2 and the LPS Foundation gets $2.  Online tickets must be purchased by Sept 8.  Click on this link: Click here to purchase tickets or go to www.LPSFoundation.com, click on the link next to the Colorado Rapids logo, select "Littleton High School" from the drop down menu, and follow the simple directions through the Rapids' ticket site.  One lucky ticket purchaser will have a Colorado Rapids player visit his/her school.  The winner will be announced at halftime!  Thank you for your support!

SAVE THE DATE:  The LPS Foundation is having their 18th annual Stride 2013 on Sunday, October 27 at the Littleton Museum.  Register online at www.runthestride.com  or register in person at the Boulder Running Company, 8116 W. Bowles Avenue in Littleton OR at Run Colorado, 8505 E. Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial from Friday, Sept 27, through 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 23.  Join your fellow students in either a 5K or 10K race through the beautiful streets of Littleton.  We have been challenged to win the High School Competition for a third year in a row so we need to have as many participants as possible join the "Littleton High School" team.  If our school has the largest percentage of participants, we win $1,000 again.  GO LIONS!!!
