Today is an ODD Period Day – Periods 1.3.5.7

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

Congratulation to the FBLA team of Adam Butterman, Michael Tolley, Mac Baker, Lauren Byford and Naya Bere.  They finished in 1st place at the Stock Market Challenge held at DU on Friday!  Their portfolio grew to over $1,000,000.  They were rewarded with a trophy and each team member took home a new Nook e-reader.

Congratulations to the winners of Lions Follies this past weekend!  Best Musical Act:  Duncan Britt, Best Non-Musical Act:  Kristi Sauer and Best Overall Act:  Alex Olvera!  Way to go everyone!  And thanks to everybody who came and saw the show, it was a great show with a wonderful mix of songs, dances and comedy.  And a special thanks to Jennifer Trigg and her committee for doing such a great job on the show!

After an amazing stretch of 13 wins, your Littleton LION ULTIMATE mixed team lost to Lakewood for the Colorado state title. We are second in state and feeling LION PRIDE!  Help us celebrate our great season with a special performance and cheer right after school in the main lobby!

 Academic Announcements: 

Reminder for all students who signed up to take the swim test at LHS Mon., Nov. 11 or Tues., Nov. 12, you will need to be dressed in the pool ready to swim by 2:30 on the day you signed up to take the test. Please remember to bring your photo ID with you.

EXPLORE (9th grade):  Distributed in Advisement classes on Monday and Tuesday, this week.

Practice ACT (11th grade):  Distributed in Social Studies on Thursday and Friday, this week.

Club Announcements: 

FBLA members we will have an important meeting this Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 2:20 pm in room 124.  We will be selecting competitive events for the district conference, learning how to prepare and updating members on an upcoming community service project.  Please plan to attend!

NHS members don't forget our meeting today (Monday) in the forum at 230- all members, new and old must be present.

INK Club members, please bring card making supplies to Mrs. Kaska's room ASAP!

The Role Playing Game Club will meet again this week after school on Tuesday in room 116 to discuss what game we play for our next tournament.  Pacman?  Tetris?  Donkey Kong?  Come join us and help us decide.

Sport Announcements:

Wrestling season starts on Wednesday, November 13th.  If you are interested in wrestling see coach Burton in room 133W.

Calling all Littleton Public Schools ice hockey players! Tryouts for the Winter CHSAA season are Nov. 13 and 15 at the Ice Ranch in Littleton at 3PM. Visit www.heritagelpshockey.org for details.

Girl's tennis conditioning is Wednesday in the small gym at 230- be there!

All students who are planning to participate in Winter Sports must register on-line on the Athletic website and ensure the Athletic Dept has a current physical form for you on file, before participating in the sport. Some students have handed in their physical forms but have not yet registered.

Special Events:

LHS is holding a book drive to support the schools in Lyons impacted by the recent Colorado floods.  Their schools are in need of books appropriate for students in grades K-12.  You can drop off new or gently used books in the attendance office, library or in your language arts classroom starting November 11.  The drive will run through November 22, so there is plenty of time to be part of this flood relief effort!

International Education Week is coming to LHS the week of November 12-18. This is an event that is promoted by the U.S. Department of Education and State in order to promote international learning and exchange. LHS has celebrated this week since 2001. The week's schedule is posted outside the library, and the days events will be read in the daily announcements. Each period in the Forum there will be LHS and guest speakers who will present on a variety of international topics as well as international films. Additionally, there will be an intramural soccer tournament Wednesday after school and a study abroad and culture fair Wednesday evening between 6 and 8 pm. Friday in the Theater their will be an world music concert and dance performance. In addition to attending events with your classes, feel welcome to attend events during your off hours.

Blog Announcements:

Schedule adjustments will not be done for second semester until the following dates by grade level:  12th grade: Dec. 2; 11th grade:  Dec. 3; 10th grade Dec. 5 and 9th grade:  Dec. 6.

There will be a CO ED, 4 versus 4 soccer tournament from 3-5pm in the stadium on Wednesday, November 20, as part of International Week. Teams of 2 boys and 2 girls from any grade may participate. Register your team with coach Banfield before Friday, November 15.

Heritage/Littleton Hockey Spirit Night at the Garlic Knot South Park - Wednesday, November 13th from 5-8pm.  Pay $10 at the door for all-you-can-eat pizza and garlic knots (soda is included)! Half of the proceeds go to the Hockey program, the home of all LPS hockey players!
