Student Recognition & Congratulations:


Congratulations to the LION ULTIMATE mixed team winning their season opener against Heritage. We played in the rain and won 12-9!!

The boys varsity soccer team did it again! They won a decisive 1-0 victory against Regis Jesuit, despite the soggy conditions. Sam Korff bagged the Lions' goal on a spectacular free kick to push the team to a 6-1 record. Come out and watch them face off against Castle View on Tuesday at 4:00 in the stadium!  Way to go LIONS!!

Club Announcements:

Attention all RETURNING Speech and Debate Team members: please join us at our first meeting of the year today at 2:30 in the NEW speech room-- the library classroom.  This meeting is only for returning members.  Spread the word!

Attention all Student Council Officers and any students who signed up to be Ambassadors plus any students who want to be a part of Student Council, we have a General Council meeting on Monday Sept. 16th, at 2:20 in the Forum. We will be discussing Homecoming and having Class Meetings.  We hope to see you there!!

 Homecoming Events:

Today is the last day to put in your nominations for Homecoming Royalty during A or B lunch.  You can nominate ONE Boy and ONE Girl from your class to be on the Homecoming Royalty Court. 
 
HOMECOMING TICKET SALES start on Monday Sept. 16th during A and B lunches in the cafeteria. The cost is $15 per ticket.  They will be on sale every day next week during lunches, and also after school on Wednesday and Thursday.  IF you do not buy your ticket ahead of time, that is ok - they are the same price at the door the night of the dance, Sept. 21st.  Bonus – Your Homecoming ticket scores you a free cookie and soda at the DECA store during the dance.

HOMECOMING SPIRIT DAYS!!  Starting Monday, you can get into the Homecoming Spirit by dressing up each day a different way in the spirit of the Circus or just for fun!!  Monday is DENIM MONDAY--so wear all denim to school, then we have TUTU TUESDAY-wear your most colorful skirt, tutu or just some feathers, WACKY WEDNESDAY is next--find something crazy and wacky to wear PLUS Student Council will be giving out clown noses, Thursday is FAVORITE CIRCUS ANIMAL DAY--wear those tiger shirts or lion shirts!  Friday everyone wears their CLASS T-SHIRTS to show their school spirit!!  So, get with the SPIRIT and dress up each day!!

Volleyball practice times tonight have changed. Varsity will practice from 2:45-4:15 and JV 3:00-5:00pm in the north gym.  Freshman and Sophomore will practice 4:30-6:30pm in the south gym.

Greetings and welcome back Philosophers and thinkers.  Philosophy Club will hold its first meeting today after school in room 103.  Anyone is welcome to stop by to discuss ideas, argue your case and hear a variety of points of view. 

First meeting of Key Club is today!  Key Club is a service organization.  Membership offers you a chance to make a difference in your community and to make new friends and have fun.  Come along to room 211 after school to eat some ice cream and learn about joining.  All are welcome!

Pre-season weight training and open gym times continue today for all levels of boys basketball.  Meet in the weight room at 2:30 pm.  Open gym is from 6 - 7:30 pm in the south gym.

The Freshman, Sophomore, and JV volleyball teams all won in two games last night. Come cheer them on and show your support tomorrow night at Thunder Ridge high school. The freshman and sophomores play at 4:30, JV starts at 5:30, and the varsity match starts at 6:30. 

Congrats to Boys tennis - The varsity beat Ponderosa 7 - 0.  And the JV won 5-0 to extend their record to 5 and1.  Next up is a rivalry match vs. Heritage on Thursday.  Come out to support your team.  Go LIONS!!

Attention Seniors!  The Boettcher Scholarship is one of the most prestigious and generous college scholarships that a student graduating from a Colorado High School can receive. Recipients of this award receive full tuition, fees, books and a living stipend for all four years of an undergraduate degree earned at any accredited college/university in the state of Colorado. The application process is rigorous and the selection process is extremely competitive. The application deadline is Friday, October 4th. Congratulations to the Lion Pride Football team for their win over George Washington HS Saturday afternoon 47-13.  Way to go LIONS!!

Congratulations to the Boys Tennis team for a fabulous weekend. The JV beat Columbine in a tight match, 6-5. The Varsity traveled to Grand Junction for the Western Slope Invitational and faced several of the top teams in the state.  In the consolation round, Nathan Schultz and Carver Payne took 4th places and Cullen MacDowell and Jake Anderson captured a 2nd place.  In the championship bracket, Michael Craig, Ben Shamon and Thinh Dinh took 4th place, but the LHS stars of the tourney were Larkin Burbage and Seth Goldstein who barely lost to Denver East in a tense thriller and finished in 3rd place.

LHS ENCORE! will host a meet & greet BBQ before the Collage Concert on Wednesday, Sept 11, at 5:00pm in the front parking lot. Everyone is welcome and proceeds benefit LHS Performing Arts.  Please see Mr. Farrell for tickets. The FREE Collage Concert follows the BBQ, at 7pm, in the LHS Theatre.

Homecoming Dance Guest forms are available in Student Services. They are due back September 19, 2013. The Homecoming dance will be held Saturday, September 21st.

Just a reminder that if you haven't purchased a parking permit, now is the time to do so.  Campus security will start issuing tickets if you don't have a permit. The bookkeeper will be open every day, all day, this week.

Students, if you are interested in serving on our School Accountability Committee, we will be choosing one student by lottery.  Please complete a nomination form for yourself in the main office by the end of today.  We will draw one name tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept 10th.  Meeting times are on that nomination form; generally we meet the third Wednesday of the month after school. Our next meeting is September 18th.

Welcome to LHS PTO 2013-2014:  Our first PTO meeting is Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the LHS Administrative Conference Room, 199 E. Littleton Blvd.  Please note: Scott Murphy, LPS Superintendent, will be making a presentation during this meeting.  Please feel free to bring your questions about LHS Buildings and Facilities or the Bond Issue to this meeting.  He appreciates input from our LHS Community.  I'm looking forward to a fun and exciting year ahead and I appreciate your involvement in your student's school through PTO.  A complete list of PTO meeting dates for the year is listed on the PTO tab of the LHS website.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Please invite your friends.  Everyone is welcome here!  GO LIONS!!

Hey, Students, have you ever wanted to attend a Colorado Rapids game with all your friends and family?  Well now is your chance.  Join your fellow classmates and teachers from Littleton HS on Saturday, Sept 14th at 7 p.m. for LPS Community Night as the Colorado Rapids take on FC Dallas!  Tickets are $20 each ($35 regular price).  For every ticket purchased, our PTO gets $2 and the LPS Foundation gets $2.  Online tickets must be purchased by Sept 8.  Click on this link: Click here to purchase tickets or go to www.LPSFoundation.com, click on the link next to the Colorado Rapids logo, select "Littleton High School" from the drop down menu, and follow the simple directions through the Rapids' ticket site.  One lucky ticket purchaser will have a Colorado Rapids player visit his/her school.  The winner will be announced at halftime!  Thank you for your support!

SAVE THE DATE:  The LPS Foundation is having their 18th annual Stride 2013 on Sunday, October 27 at the Littleton Museum.  Register online at www.runthestride.com  or register in person at the Boulder Running Company, 8116 W. Bowles Avenue in Littleton OR at Run Colorado, 8505 E. Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial from Friday, Sept 27, through 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 23.  Join your fellow students in either a 5K or 10K race through the beautiful streets of Littleton.  We have been challenged to win the High School Competition for a third year in a row so we need to have as many participants as possible join the "Littleton High School" team.  If our school has the largest percentage of participants, we win $1,000 again.  GO LIONS!!!
