Today is ODD Period Day – Periods 1.3.5.7

Student Recognition & Congratulations:

Our Unified team beat Chatfield Friday night 100-93. Our next game is Wednesday at the Pepsi Center.

The LHS Speech and Debate team competed against 36 schools at the Lobo Howl in Fort Collins on Saturday.  Leading the way:
Kieran Britt, 6th in Lincoln-Douglas debate
Megan Sanders, 6th in Oratory
Kelly Dineen and Ryan Familglietti, second in Policy Debate
and Lucy Haggard, tournament Champion in Poetry

This past Saturday at the Kent Denver and St. Mary's Model United Nations Conference Zach Huffer, Annalise Froelich, Claire Martin, Jae Banfield, Tessa Rubi, Will Banfield, Aidan Mann, Jordan Trigg, CJ Larson, and Alexandra Martin led the rebirth of Model United Nations for Littleton High School. This group did a great job of simulating roles as United Nations diplomats, and Will Banfield and Alexandra Martin won Best Delegate awards for their representation of France in their Security Council simulation. Anyone interested in learning more about Model United Nations is welcome to attend the groups regular Thursday meetings in room 206 between 2:20 and 2:45.

Club Announcements: 

If you are interested in being a part of the newspaper or yearbook staff next year, your applications are due Tuesday, January 28.  Don't miss the deadline!  If you have questions, please see Miss Kron or Mrs. Fisher.

Fashion Club meets this Wednesday the 29th after school in room 205.  See you there!

There will be a MANDATORY meeting this thursday right after school in room 124.  Please see Mr. Decker immediately if you cannot make the meeting.

Special Events:

Winter Dance tickets go on sale today during lunch times.  The theme again is 'The Roaring Twenties' and the dance is this Saturday night from 8:00 to 11:00 in the south gym.  Tickets are $8.00 for individuals, $15.00 for couples.
To get ready for the dance, make sure to participate in spirit days this week.  Today is Bronco day, tomorrow is Twin Day, Wednesday is Glitz and Glamor Day, Thursday is Bow Tie and Pearls day, and Friday, of course, is class T-Shirt day.

Don't forget to pick up a dance guest form from the Student Services office if you are brining someone out of LHS to the Winter Dance, they are due on Thursday the 20th.

Sport Announcements:

Girls Soccer - Any girls wishing to play soccer for LHS in the spring must attend a short meeting at 2.20pm on Wednesday Jan 29 in room 133E.  You will receive information on tryouts and the upcoming season. If you cannot attend, please see coach Banfield to collect the papers.

Boys LAX – Any boys wishing to play lacrosse for LHS in the spring must attend a parent/player meeting on Thursday evening, Jan 30th in the Forum at 7pm.  Coaches will go over important information about tryouts, game schedules and what to expect for the upcoming season.

FROM THE LIBRARY: AS PART OF THE HERITAGE HIGH SCHOOL WINTER SPIRIT WEEK, THEIR LIBRARY IS DONATING ALL LIBRARY FINES COLLECTED TO THE ARAPAHOE HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY REMODELING PROJECT. IN ORDER TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT FOR THIS WORTHY CAUSE, THE LHS LIBRARY WILL ALSO DONATE ALL FINES AND PRINTING FEES COLLECTED DURING SPIRIT WEEK TO THIS EFFORT. PLEASE COME DOWN AND TAKE CARE OF ANY LIBRARY FINES YOU MAY HAVE AND AT THE SAME TIME HELP OUT OUR FRIENDS AT AHS.

Blog Announcements:

A Writing Center is now open in the library on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:20-3:30. Come in and work with a peer tutor on writing from all classes and at any stage in the writing process. You can make an appointment in the library, and walk-ins are also welcome. Please see the library staff if you have any additional questions.

Peer Counselor’s Penny War is happening now!  Bring your spare change during A & B lunches.  Win a Starbucks or Chipotle gift card. Proceeds benefit Second Wind Fund.

Our Unified Basketball team will participate in a tournament at the Pepsi Center on January 29th from 1-5pm. Following the tournament, the Denver Nuggets will take on the Charlotte Bobcats at 7pm.  Any ticket purchased will get you into the tournament and game.  Special discounted tickets are available at www.nuggetstix.com/unified129
