The C4L Club and the LHS Social Committee want to sponsor a Spirit Day this week on Friday--Cowboy Day! This is to honor the 114th National Western Stock Show and Rodeo here in Denver. Did you know that the city of Highlands Ranch used to be a REAL ranch? In 1913, a man nicknamed the Potato King of Colorado decided to use all the money he made planting potatoes to build a ranch where the Highlands Ranch Golf Club is right now off of C470. The Ranch extended 50 miles further south and 75 miles further east. At one time, he was the number 1 supplier of horses and baby livestock to the National Western Stock Show. So, let's honor that first ranch and the cowboys who worked on it and wear our cowboy attire on Friday, January 17th. Let's show our Colorado frontier spirit, and you might even get a prize at the door!
