CONGRATULATIONS:
Congratulations to our varsity Lions, who defeated Evergreen on Friday night to improve their record to 12-4 on the season. Sophomore Penny Urquhart led the way with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomores Daysha Sagrillo-Smiley, Jacy Chandler, and senior Marlee Hernandez Priest also turned in standout defensive efforts. Be sure to join us this Wednesday at 6:30 pm vs. Conifer for Senior Night to celebrate our outstanding seniors!

On Saturday, our speech and debate team competed in person at the DPS Invitational at Denver South High School. It was a fun, fast tournament, and we walked away with some awards, too. Deanna Sokol placed 7th in Original Oratory, Bella Houck placed 1st in Dramatic Interpretation, and Senior Eliana Joy Volin placed 1st in Interpretation of Poetry. For those three, this was the first in-person tournament in 2 years so they still got it, and great job to the whole squad for competing at a high level and representing LHS well!

Congratulations to the wrestling team who competed at the 4A JeffCo League Tournament this past Friday. The lions were led by league champions Kai Saito and Aron Leon. Disan Tenorio finished in 2nd place. Elias Garcia and James Horton placed 3rd. The team wrestles on Friday and Saturday at the CO Regional tournament in Colorado Springs.

LHS Community- Did you know that The Red Cross has declared the first-ever blood crisis amid the Omicron surge? Our National Honor Society is helping with this blood shortage by hosting a blood drive here at LHS on Thursday, February 17th, and Friday 18th. Anyone 16 years and older can be eligible to donate blood. Students that are 16 or 17 need parent permission forms signed. Come to the counseling offices for more eligibility information, permission forms, and to sign up for a donation slot during an off period! Bring your friends and parents, and thank you for helping with this life-saving service to our community.
