Reigning supreme in the Lion’s Den on Tuesday, our Lady Lions volleyball team looked like a well-oiled machine. Between birthday celebrations, new offensive weapons, shutting it down at the back line, and aces at every level, it was a total team effort! Now we take the show on the road to Vista Peak tonight to face the Bison. One pride, one familyThe Lions Varsity Girls Cross Country team had a strong showing at the Lions Cross Country Classic, led by Lucia Bovo and Anais Briotet, who both finished in the Top Ten with new PRs. Lucia, Anais and Gillian Glover each earned PRs for the third straight week – a fantastic display of consistency and hard work! Ainsley Baker, Olive Ascani, Annabelle Pannier and Maddy Nolting rounded out the Lions’ third-place team. In the JV race, Sophie Bailey took first place overall, while Sarah Nazarenus finished fourth overall. The Open Girls also earned a third-place team finish. Great racing, Lions!
The Lions Boys Cross Country team came away with the win at the Lions Cross Country Classic, with Tyler West leading the way by running up front and finishing fourth overall. Milo VanMatre was close behind in 10th, earning yet another PR. Zander Davis, Louge Stewart, Henry Hoffman, Micah Hosie and Leo Ellcessor rounded out the Lions’ varsity squad. In the Open race, Levi Flanagan worked with the front pack to finish fourth overall. Eli Faulk, Christian Chang-Nunley, Brooks Manuel and Hudson Frazier all earned PRs in the Open race where the Lions were second in the team standings. Way to run, Lions!
Boys Varsity Soccer battled D’Evelyn yesterday to a hard-fought 1–1 tie! The team put in an incredible effort, with standout performances from Julian Lopez, our goal scorer; Andrey Polita, who recorded an assist; and Winston Knoth, who helped anchor the back line. Good luck to JV as they take on D’Evelyn today! Come support your Lions next Tuesday as they take on Evergreen at home!
ACADEMICS:
Did you know that 16 colleges visited LHS this year already and another 64 are scheduled to visit through the end of October? In the library today, we have Sarah Lawrence University at noon and University of Wyoming at 1. On Friday, University of Richmond is visiting at 12:30 followed by Gonzaga University at 2.Be sure to sign up for visits in SCOIR and grab a pass from Post Grad ahead of time if you need to be excused from class.
SPORTS:
Any Boys basketball player, grades 9-12, not in a fall sport is invited to our first Open Gym of the year from 5-7pm in the North Gym today, September 17th.

If you want to be part of something bigger than yourself, you belong on the wrestling team. Join us for our preseason workouts in the wrestling room on Mondays 4:15 pm-5:45 pm, Wednesdays 6 pm- 7:30 pm, and Fridays 4:15 pm- 5:45 pm.

Homecoming Royalty Voting takes place tomorrow during Seminar. Be ready to nominate two of your classmates whom you would love to see represent your class during Homecoming week. The voting link will be posted in your grade level Seminar Google Classroom.
Homecoming tickets will be sold at the bookkeeper's office during both A and B lunch of Homecoming week on September 30th, October 1st, and October 2nd. They are $10 dollars at the bookkeeper; buy $15 dollars at the door. The bookkeeper will only take cash and checks, so make sure to plan ahead!

Latinos in Action is hosting a Pet drive for Denver Dumb Friends League starting today, September 15th, through the 1st of October. Some things we would need would include Unopened pet food, Chicken or turkey, baby food, peanut butter, etc. Look for the posters around the school on Tuesday, September 15th, for more information on donations needed and things we cannot accept.
