CONGRATULATIONS:
Congratulations to our LHS mountain team who raced Saturday in Steamboat Springs. Sophomore Rachel Leatherman placed 2nd in her division, Jackson Bellon placed 7th in JV boys, and Esme Ahles placed 14th in the freshmen girls race. Great job to all our riders. Our next race is September 22nd in Eagle.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Way to go, Boys Cross Country! In the varsity race at the Centaurus Invite, Tyler West crossed the line first for the Lions, earning an early season PR. Hank Chojancki was our number two runner, with newcomer Axel Fontaine, the third Lion, finishing with his third PR in as many weeks as possible. In the JV race, Levi Flanagan led the way for the Lions, with Leo Ellcessor and Micah Hosie as the two and three runners, both of whom were notched season PRs. In the Open race, Junior Gabe Menard crushed his previous best time on the way to finishing first for the Lions in the race. In fact, all our runners in the Open division earned PRs, including Quinn Morgan, Boston Bennett, and Noah Scott.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
The Varsity Girls Cross Country team had one of its best performances this season during the Centaurus Invitational in Lafayette over the weekend. Junior Natalie Lueker led the way for the Lions, with Freshman Sophie Bailey not far behind. Both earned PRs in their effort. Seniors Tatum Pratt and Grace Foresman had excellent races as well. In the JV division, the power trio of Sarah Nazarenus, Ainsley Baker, and Ella Chase were a tight pack crossing the finish line one after another to lead for the Lions. Valen Orrick had a huge PR in the Open Girls division, with Lexi Myrtle and Emma Roskelley also earning season-best times.

The Girls Swim & Dive Team will be having an informational meeting for parents and athletes on Monday, Sept. 23 from 6-7 pm in the Forum. If you are interested in joining the team, please come and meet your coaches and captains!

Runners, walkers, and all those looking for a fun, family-friendly 5K – we want you! The Flyin’
Lion 5K is Sun., Sept. 15, at the high school. This race benefits our athletic programs and activities and is one of our Booster Club’s annual fundraising events. With a beautiful course on the High Line that starts and ends on the new track in our recently renovated stadium, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
